North Abilene here; must be why.

Negroponte was interviewed by the adolescent CNN reporter Campbell Brown. He was so gentle with her and explained the complexity of the situation in Iraq to her respectfully but almost like a parent to a child. (Which she is). He handled the interview with great finesse. I was really impressed with him.

Over the years Negroponte has not changed; he is the same decent individual with the same marvellous intellect he had when he entered the Foreign Service. Good man. Good choice.

North Abilene, huh?
I went to a dentist on that side of town...
Looks like I'm moving soon though --- I hate to -- I like it here.

The far left still hates him for his role in toppling the Sandanistas. A quick run by DU to see the wailing an gnashing their teeth will tell you something about Negroponte.
Negroponte is a major US asset. The only concern I have on this choice is the hole it is going to leave as Amb to Iraq.

I worry also that the loss of Negroponte in Iraq could be a problem. However, Ambassador Taylor, who did a solid job in Afghanistan and in now involved in Iraq planning, would be a good replacement.
