A few months ago when I was in the Atlanta Airport I heard quite a bit of applause. When we got close enough to see what was happenening, we saw that the applause was for an arriving platoon of troops.

On an episode of "Airline", the reality show on A&E about Southwest Airlines, one of the flight attendants brother was returning from Iraq. A former Vietnam vet who works at the airport made sure he was with the sister the minute the soldier de planed to Thank him for his service (something he said no one ever did for him when he returned). They walked down the gateway, and when they entered the gate area, the Vietnam vet announce to a couple of hundred waiting passengers that "This soldier is just returning from Iraq". The entire area broke out in a round of applause!
