"The gall of these places! Giving ex-cons jobs!"

You're sooo right. How dare anyone question the wisdom of hiring a violent felon as a security guard. I personally can't think of anything more reassuring, as both a woman and a shopper, than a rapist getting paid to follow me around while I buy a new bra.

So let me get this straight, they won't let someone from the Salvation Army stand in front of their store with a Santa suit on, but they'll let a convicted rapist stand in front of their store and guard it?

That makes sense.

You forgot: and escort female employees to their vehicles after dark..
Many security guards routinely do this when requested to..

Even when not requested to.

At the retirement home not far from where I live, the employees park across the street. After dark, a security guard always walks them to their cars. Always that I have observed. (I routinely walk the dog late at night.)

I'm not sure if this applies to to the male employees, but almost all the employees are female.

Most of the security guards are older males, so I don't know that they could stop anything. It still seems like a good practice.

"Sounds to me like Illinois need better standards for security guard checks. How did he even get the license?"

Amen! Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil wins again! It must be run by Dims.
