Cockney barrow boy spivsDeferring to others for Brit slang.
From what I've heard of floor-traders in commodities, the protesters were lucky not to have their hearts ripped out barehanded.

Then they fall under the Patriot Act as terrorists and something real may finally be done about them.

Well, "barrow-boys" were guys selling stuff like fish or vegetables from a large barrow (like in NY in the old days). "Spivs" were post-WWII hard characters in London.

shocked to see beer in the student cafeteria. I was sure all the students would be drunk in their afternoon classes. And the downside is....?

Might be the best thing that ever happened. Enviro Terrorists should be treated no different than Appliqued.
Any animal rights group or enviro whack job group that supported them funds could be frozen. Can you imagining the whining, tears and gnashing of teeth that would cause among the loony left. It would be music to my ears.

And the downside is....?LOL! I guess I had screwed up priorities at the time (1970s). If I had seen everyone smoking dope, I wouldn't have batted an eyelash, but beer, shocking!

Cockney Barrow boy spivs....that pretty much translates into Working Class White trash!
I think these guys thought by running into a white collar work area, they would get a *tsk tsk* wagging finger response. *L*
Instead they got the several colours of shivering shite kicked out of them. And rightly so.

Activists expressed shock at the reaction. "They were in a frenzy. They just went wild. They were trying so hard to hit us they were falling over each other,"
O. M. G.
I've never wanted to laugh so hard, yet, somehow, it's sad, too.
But funny.
Oh, man.

We bit off more than we could chew. They were just Cockney barrow boy spivs. Total thugs, one protester said, rubbing his bruised skull. Ive never seen anyone less amenable to listening to our point of view.
Maybe it was the pencil necked protesters who are not particulary open to listening to the traders view.
...a bleary-eyed trader, pint in hand, yelled: Sod off, Swampy.
I have absolutely no idea what that means but I like it. Do we have any one that speaks New Zeland here who can translate ?

Ive never seen anyone less amenable to listening to our point of view. They made their way to the trading floor, blowing whistles and sounding fog horns, encountering little resistance from security guards. Rape alarms were tied to helium balloons to float to the ceiling and create noise out of reach. The IPE conducts open outcry trading where deals are shouted across the pit. By making so much noise, the protesters hoped to paralyse trading.
LIAR! You had no intention of 'speaking your point of view' to anybody.
When a trader left the building shortly before 2pm, using a security swipe card, a protester dropped some coins on the floor and, as he bent down to pick them up, put his boot in the door to keep it open.
Two minutes later, three Greenpeace vans pulled up and another 30 protesters leapt out and were let in by the others.
Even if you did, you still broke & entered, and comitted agravated trespass. Same tactics ravers use to invade farmer's barns and other "venues".
