We need to start planning NOW for 06'.

We need to make it a priority to get 60 Senators in 06'.

There have been many threads on this issue, and I will try to link to them.

Here are the Democrat Senators facing re-election in 2006:

In states that Bush won:

NM: Bingaman, Jeff
WV: Byrd, Robert (are his longterm plans to die in office?)
ND: Conrad, Kent
NE: Nelson, Ben (is he a possible party switcher?)
FL: Nelson, Bill
In states that Bush lost:

HI: Akaka, Daniel
WA: Cantwell, Maria
DE: Carper, Thomas
NY: Clinton, Hillary (Is Rudy interested?)
NJ: Corzine, Jon
MN: Dayton, Mark
CA: Feinstein, Dianne (Arnold could take her down, but he won't)
MA: Kennedy, Edward
WI: Kohl, Herb
CT: Lieberman, Joseph
MD: Sarbanes, Paul
MI: Stabenow, Debbie

Minnesota (Dayton-D) - Sen. Dayton has announced that he will retire at the end of his term.

West Virginia (Byrd-D) - Born Nov. 20, 1917, Byrd will be almost 89 years old on election day in 2006 and may retire.

Dear davidosborne,

It isn't likely that Mr. Sarbanes (POS - MD) can be defeated.

* A New Contract For America
* Increase defense, reduce all other spending
* Tell the hard truth about Social Security (and ideally, come up with the winning plan to phase it out over the next 40 years)
* Borders, language, culture
* Remove the yoke from American business and foment domestic investment
* Walk away from naive, utopian, early 1990s globalist fantasies and insist on focussing on free, pro US countries - Thomas L. Friedman and Francis Fukuyama were wrong.

What good does 60 do if among them are Chaffee, Snowe, Collins, Specter and Voinovich? We need at least 65 because of them.
