Russell Mokhiber, editor of the Corporate Crime Reporter, was until recently a member of the Citizen Works board. A source familiar with the situation who "declined to be identified for fear of retaliation," told the Post that the questionable arrangement with the Nader campaign had been a factor in Mokhiber's recent decision to resign his board position. (Mokhiber's newsletter promotes corporate transparency and accountability.)

Just as I thought. He's a member of a Communist "front group".

Nader Had Campaign Office at Charity
Situation Raises Ethical Questions

The issue has also stirred controversy among Nader-aligned groups, where the arrangement has been common knowledge for months. Citizen Works board member Russell Mokhiber unexpectedly resigned a few months ago, and one person familiar with the situation who works for a consumer group and who declined to be identified for fear of retaliation said the campaign's arrangement was a factor. Mokhiber, whose Corporate Crime Reporter newsletter advocates increased corporate transparency and accountability, declined to comment last week. District records indicate Mokhiber withdrew from the group in December.

Jim Angle, not Brit reported this...I saw it and posted it on a couple threads to demonstrate this WH was open to journalists from a variety of outfits and from across the political spectrum, thereby debunking the "Gannon was a plant" nonsense:

Equal Time?

Critics have accused the White House of granting unusual access to Jeff Gannon (search), the reporter who recently resigned as White House correspondent for a conservative Web site.

But the White House clears in other reporters with partisan views, as long as they represent a news organization that publishes regularly. That includes Russell Mokhiber, who works for Ralph Nader's Corporate Crimes Reporter. Mokhiber recently asked Press Secretary Scott McClellan if the president believes the Sixth Commandment — thou shalt not kill — applies to the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

The White House says they welcome a wide range of views in the briefing room.
