Second Anti-War Effigy Torn Down Land Park Home At Center Of Free Speech Debate

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A Sacramento homeowner's latest anti-war effigy has been torn down.

Stephen and Virginia Pearcy put a soldier's uniform with words "Bush lied, I died" on their Land Park home over the weekend, but by late Monday afternoon the display had been ripped down, leaving only the soldier's glove.

Also, a sticker from President George W. Bush's campaign had been put on the front window of the home. ------snip

I know that this was already posted, but beware what happens!

Let hatred display what they want. Stopping their public demonstration of their hatred will backfire against conservatives.

This is a ploy to get the law to stop displaying Christmas Manger Scenes.

If there are individuals that can't display their utter contempt for President Bush, then liberals will reverse it to kill Christianity displaying: Crosses, Crucifixes, Manger Scenes, statues of God's Angeles, Saints, Cemetery stones, etc.

Consider it as a tactic among Pro-Life movements that shun violence against abortion clinics. If a neighbor wants to ostracize themselves for erecting wild anti-war displays, then let them worship in that religion while we conservatives publicly worship our God.

I agree. Such displays as that are offensive and I do not think help their cause at all. They are their own worst enemies... do not do them the favor of hiding their stupidity from public view.

It is said that the best thing to do when someone is making a fool of himself is to get out of the way.

To any of those who might happen to know anything about what's happening in Sacramento, especially around this home, might I suggest going to neighbors and having them put up a display, "Don't blame me for my neighbor acting like an idiot."

It is a free speech issue, if these people wish to demonstrate their stupidity on their own property, I say let them. I might put up a counter display in my yard if I lived across from them.

They are already doing that? We need to stop it! I don't care what "they" do, just let me do what I want, which is not ANTI-AMERICA!

So a burning cross can be displayed on your lawn?

Hmm,I thought that may incite violence.

...display, "Don't blame me for my neighbor acting like an idiot."

Yes, or if you fly the Marine Corps flag that might say enough of those you support without revealing politics. Even if you're not a Marine or former Marine, the Marine Corps always loves others to support them.

Another example is blessing oneself before meals and that reveals enough about religion. If they get abused for it, well that's getting brownie points in Heaven.

Any one has the right to put on their front lawn whatever they want, as long as it doesn't advocate, for instance, Muslims going out and bombing Americans.

I fail to see how that idiot's anti-Bush lawn ornament could possibly stop future Christmas mangers or Hanukkah Menorahs displays.

A "burning cross" would get more negative reaction from Southerners than from most other states. The South done rose again when it put "W" in the White House twice. There will be enough FBI agents to scout the one who displays a burning cross on their yard. And the neighbor who chooses to display such does everyone a favor by revealing his hatred. The cross burner will become very lonely, and his paranoi for being watched won't be paranoi...he WILL be watched very closely. Thus, he'll be one less 'sleeper' to expose.

Forget about tearing down some dummy.

This is a war. No one sits on the sidelines. They made a choice. Let them bear the consequences.

To me, "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of their women" is a rather good tactical objective.

Remember the strategy of the Viet Mhin when they ambushed Force Mobilee 100.

I do. The article mentions that the display was ripped down and a Bush bumper sticker was placed on the property. I see that it's a threat by examining history and how activist male judges decided that killing unborn children was somehow good for women.

The activist judge's logic is this: symbols of ideas (anti-war), and religion (Christmas Scenes) incite violence; thus, we'll outlaw all symbols for the sake of peace and order. The activist judge will try to go after a "hate" crime instead of just serving the law: trespassing onto private property, destruction of private property, etc.

The cross burner will be arrested!

The one who hangs a soldier in effigy will be held up as a beacon of free speech.

There are limits on free speech, both of these should be treated equally.

It's better to listen to the Jewish and Christian values that have taught our society rather than something an Eastern conquerer muttered and couldn't leave a legacy beyond a few generations. Western societies wax and wane, but waxes better the elder it proceeds. The "might-makes-right" of any pagan imperial power only and always wanes after burning out bright (a time and a season for the beast, as described in Revelations).

Consider that when examining the minuscule history of the homosexual agenda, how it started a mere few decades ago, and the grave they face now. They too, have carried the consequences of their actions; and, it didn't take violence to prove them wrong. Nature has revolted against their perversion.

Cataloging anti-American hatred by Americans will make for a good history lesson for our future children...since it will be children from conservative values that renew the population and not pagan errors.

I think your imagination is working overtime. Any such judge's action would be overturned very quickly, particularly in today's climate.

I believe that the cross burner would be arrested if he placed that burning cross onto another's property. Don't forget, the KKK and Neo-Nazis have won their rights to march in their own parades. They don't have to hide, and no body wants them to hide.

You're a good American and I don't want to deflate your balloon.

I was a child patriot with an Officer of Marine Corps for a dad. Not many today would say that their father is their hero. I can. I remember what it was like when Carter was president and wondering why Marine Corps families (particularly the wives) were so upset about how the US Military was being gutted, how we didn't raise a bigger fuss against Soviets invading Afghanistan, how we didn't even bloody Islamic extremist (who were, in reality a bunch of rowdy college kids) that took American soil and held hostage our American Embassy officials.

I remember cheering, with my family, "USA! USA! USA!" when our Olympic Hockey team beat the Soviets. I remember Reagan sweeping the election twice and our hostages were immediately released.

I too, thought that the actions of activist judges would have been overturned during Reagan's presidency. I thought that Americans would remember Carter, the Soviets in Afghanistan, the terror of Islamic theocracy in Iran.

I thought we would be morally stronger and smarter since the first President Bush was a strong morale leader. He knew when and how to put down bullies and tyrants like Saddam Hussein and Noriega.

But then America elected President Clinton...twice.

xJones, it's not my imagination that conjures recent American history.
