If there is to be any meeting of the minds it must be based upon each side having a clear understanding of the other.
But I'm afraid American conservatives have a starry-eyed vision of Britons these days.
The stiff-upper-lip mindset of Dunkirk and The Blitz appears to me to have gone the way of the wooly mammoth and the dodo bird.
So I am engaged in an endeavor to inform as many Americans as possible the degree to which our British conservatives are or aren't our ideological soulmates.
Sad to say, the answer seems to mostly be "aren't".
I attempted to bring some degree of understanding to Brits on ST, but they weren't having any of it.
When I observe Brits howling like turpentines dogs over criticism of of their country, Shakespeare's line from Hamlet namely, "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." comes to mind.
It is blatantly obvious to anyone reading this thread that you are carrying a grudge you obtained on one site and transformed it into a one man campaign against Britain as a whole.
I don't know where to begin in expressing my disgust at this. If you have problems with someone on one site, then criticism of that one site is perfectly just. Turning into a personal vendetta against the whole United Kingdom just makes you look petty, spiteful and vindictive.
