Reagan was divorced.

I was making the point that it would have been more respectful for Rush to wait for a day other than President Reagan's memorial service in Washington to tell folks of his marital issues. The fact that President Reagan was divorced doesn't some how give Rush a pass to be respectful when the nation was mourning a man that Rush respected very much.

Yes I agree, he could have waited.

I thought Rush made his announcement on a Friday?

Reagan died on a Saturday, if I'm not mistaken? So Rush wouldn't have spoken of it until Monday. I still have that monologue.

Maybe someone knows for sure.

I believe that Rush mentioned his divorce that day because the story was coming out in the media; he knew that and wanted to be the one who advised his listeners of the situation.

Sorry, but I believe you are picking a nit that doesn't need to be picked.
