I love Rush Limbaugh dearly. I pray that he can do for his personal life what he has done for his 20 million viewers. God speed.

My personal feeling is the Marta tried to change Rush into something he wasn't. He frequently said that she hated his love for cigars. He weight loss, the failed back surguries etc may have led to a inwardly very unhappy Rush. This may have been the catharsis in his pain medication rehab. Ouch...

My sister is going through a very painful divorce from her husband of 16 years. Her husband is a career diplomat and is often stationed in foreign cities for year at a time. She hated this part of his life knowing that it was his passion. She though she could change him with lures of a stable hearth and home in Washington DC. No Sale.

The moral to this story may be that we should marry our spouses because of their passions not in spite of them.

Yeah, being so involved in public life must make it very hard to preserve any type of strong private life. I feel bad for the poor guy. At least he can say that he is making a difference in the world, and making it a better and more enlightened place, were the conservative ideology is taking hold.

Actually, as long as Rush doesn't "marry" a man, I could care less about what he does with his personal life. Oh, it's great fodder for the gossip mongers, but other than dropping a load of money on the necktie business and a "magazine", I haven't seen any evidence of it affecting his beliefs or convictions.

You go, Rush.

AGAIN?!?!?

How is a serial monogamist different from a polygamist or plain old adulterer in the eyes of God?

It's gross and sick.

I started listening to Rush when I was three years old and he was my hero. But I just can't look at him the same way now. He breaks my heart. If he had only ever criticized Bill Clinton on economic issues, I'd be able to trust him more than I do now.

Or maybe if he hadn't made fun of Ted Kennedy's philandering. But when you pretend you have some right to call someone else on their treatment of women or morality and your own behavior is terrible, your credibility goes out the window. And to have to deal with that AND his softness on abortion issues AND his rambling on and on about sports on a political talk show...well...it isn't for me. If I want to listen to a hypocrite, I'll listen to Michael Savage. He doesn't talk about sports, he's not too soft and he has an interesting accent.

I have to agree, he hasn't had much luck or success in the marriage arena. I hope it works with Daryn if they get to that point. I remember after his second divorce, thinking wouldn't it be nice to be the next Mrs. Limbaugh. I guess he has someone in mind this time.

Ball and Chain

Well it's been ten years and a thousand tears
And look at the mes I'm in-
A broken nose and a broken heart,
An empty bottle of gin
Well I sit and I pray
In my broken down Chevrolet-
While I'm singin' to myself
There's got to be another way

[Chorus:]
Take away, take away
Take away this ball and chain
I'm lonely and I'm tired
And I can't take any more pain
Take away, take away
Never to return again
Take away, take away
Take away this ball and chain

Well I've searched and I've searched
To find the perfect life-
A brand new car and a brand new suit
I even got me a little wife-
But wherever I have gone
I was sure to find myself there-
You can run all your life
But not go anywhere

[Chorus]

Well I'll pass the bar on the way
To my dingy hotel room-
I spent all my money
Been drinkin' since half past noon-
I'll wake there in the mornin'
Or maybe in the county jail-
Times are hard getting harder
I'm born to lose and destined to fail-

[Chorus]

"his marriage with his third wife, Marta."

Third marriage already? How many children has he fathered?
