Are the bonehead bureaucrats in Kalifornia watching? Cars ARE lethal weapons.

That's exactly what I thought when i read this.

The idiots out here calling into talk shows are saying the officer should have "just stepped out of the way of the car" instead of shooting the car thief.

My questions to those Bozos is "what didn't the Pentagon cop just step out of the way"

IDOITS!!!

From various sources:

Incident Details
Cause of Death: Vehicular assault
Date of Incident: Tuesday, January 11, 2005
Incident Location: Virginia
Weapon Used: Automobile
Suspect Info: Apprehended

Officer James Feltis was run over on Jan. 11th when he tried to stop a carjacked car as it sped the wrong way on an exit ramp toward the Pentagon.

Alexandria police said the Cadillac had been carjacked near Old Town, and when they spotted it they chased it onto Interstate 395, then onto a Pentagon exit ramp the wrong way. Officer Feltis, who was unaware of the pursuit, stepped out of a control booth at the bottom of the exit ramp to motion the vehicle to stop. The driver of the vehicle instead sped up and struck Officer Feltis head-on, then kept going until an Alexandria officer rammed the vehicle a short distance at the top of the exit ramp on Route 27.

The suspect began to struggle with the pursuing Alexandria officers and was able to obtain one of their weapons. The weapon discharged, striking the suspect in the leg. The twenty-two-year-old man who was allegedly driving the car remains in the custody of U.S. Marshals and is due in federal court Friday to face carjacking and attempted murder charges. A spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office won't say whether the charges will now be upgraded to murder..

Defense Department officials say Officer Feltis never regained consciousness. Last Tuesday, Feltis was awarded a Medal of Valor in a bedside ceremony. He was 41 years old and had spent 12 years on the Pentagon force. Officer Feltis is survived by his wife and daughter.
