Terri already swallows, just not well enough to sustain her. She used to be spoon fed, but Michael ordered the insertion of the feeding tube. I'm not sure if this was because it was cheaper than paying the staff to feed her, or if it was in preparation for killing her, but she didn't need it at the time.
Wow, didn't know that. Working in the medical field, I'm not certain that the cost of her care would be significantly increased if someone had to feed her, vs. someone coming in and managing a feeding tube on her. My hunch is that all is included, but I could be wrong.
I think your latter reason could be the real reason.

Dirty rotten cruel cowardly spineless evil selfish son of the devil himself. He'd rather let her die than just let her be with her family. He'd rather be a murderer than a divorcee. What is he afraid of? I think God will overlook divorce sooner than he'll overlook murder, but maybe that's just me.
What a complete and utter loser. What an absolute horror of a human being. I pray that SOME judge, SOME politician will have the common sense - and the power - to stop all this nonsense and just let Terri go home with her family, but I sadly doubt that will be the case.
