Unless Michael Doesn't Want to Know What She Thinks. If Michael Schiavo is so sure that Terri wants to die why does he refuse to give her speech therapy?
Over and over Terri Schindler Schiavo's parents have asked that Terri be given speech therapy. Terri's parents filed an emergency motion for immediate therapy in October of 2003, asking for 8 weeks of speech and swallow therapy. Michael Schiavo objected and the court sided with him.
In the light of Sarah Scantlin's recovery of her speech after 20 years, why won't Michael Schivo reconsider?
Speech Language Pathologist, Sara Green Mele, M.S. CCC-SLP, swore under oath,
"It is my judgment based on my training and clinical experience working with patients similar to Terri that she would, within a reasonable degree of clinical probability, be able to improve her ability to interact with her environment, communicate with others, and control her environment if she were given appropriate therapy and training as outlined above. These recommendations, in my opinion would greatly improve Terri's quality of life."

Our words mean so little in this case because liberal or uninformed voters gave George W. Greer 65 percent of the vote on the Tuesday before Labor Day, 2004. Politicians take note of Greer's 65 percent.
George Felos and attorney Deborah Bushnell coaching Michael Schiavo before a hearing.
Michael Schiavo and George Felos, etc. are threatening to begin starving/dehydrating Terri for the third time February 22nd.

Yes, Terri's Law turned out in the words of the late Texan John Nance Garner, to have been not worth "a pitcher of warm spit." Thanks to the judicial tyrants that rule FL and many other states as well.
These three warm the hearts of millions in FL and the nation! Proof right there that the nation is doomed.
Because it is likely that he is responsible for her current condition and he wants her dead.
If he let her parents have guardianship, she might one day be able to testify against him and put him in the chair.
Now that I have seen the tape and read more about her condition, I am more appalled than ever at the courts decision.
If a Gov. can stay the execution of a convicted murderer on death row, how can a judge overturn this stay of execution for Terri?
Why all this coaching considering that Terri's desire to die wasn't important enough for Michael to remember until years later?
. . . is what I'd be asking if I was the judge.
amdgmary, who will ask and demand answers to these questions? We continue to do so here, and in other places.
I pray for someone to rise up to demand an accounting -- and I pray it is before we all give an ultimate accounting before God.
That's exactly what my hubby said last night. Said the dad would get a minimum of years (hopefully) and mom would get custody. I suspect though that the "judge" would try his best to stop them from getting custody to cover his @ss.
Why doesn't Michael want Terri to have speech therapy? The answer is likely another question:
What did Michael do? Enough to send him to prison for life or a date with Ol' Sparky?
If they remake the Wizard of Oz, I have some ideas on casting for the witch. (love your strategy session jpeg)
An offer was recently made by the Schindlers in which they would not seek prosecution, etc. if Michael would just let them take care of Terri. Michael refused.
They also offered him all book and movie rights, etc.
Very appropriate. Thanks for the PING.
Excellent!
Woman Wakes After 20 Year Coma, Impacts Terri Schaivo Legal Battle
by Steven Ertelt, LifeNews.com Editor, February 14, 2005
Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- Sarah Scantlin was unable to speak after an automobile accident in which a drunk driver crashed into her, leaving her in a coma. Though doctors believed her brain was injured so badly in the accident that should would never be able to talk again and spend her life in a vegetative state, Scantlin began speaking a week ago.
Sarah's friends and family gathered Saturday at the health care center where she lives to celebrate. "She's 100 percent Sarah again. The family is back together, and it's just simply a joyous situation," her father, Jim Scantlin, told CNN.
Scantlin was 18 when she was injured and, until last month, she was aware of her surroundings but unable to speak. Suddenly, she began talking to workers at the health care center.
"It just happened one day and nobody really knows why," said Sharon Kuepker, administrator for the Golden Plains Health Care Center.
Now, Scantlin is forming words, counting, and remembering people and places. "You condition yourself to be able to try to deal with something like this, and then all of the sudden, the world instantly changed from despair to joy because it's amazing how important communication is between human beings," her father told the Associated Press.
Doctors have no explanation but pro-life advocates believe the case proves that Terri Schiavo, who is not in a PVS state, could find her disabled condition improved if she were given proper medical care and rehabilitative treatment.
Robert Schindler, Terri's father, says he hopes the courts will see this "miracle" and think of Terri. "In light of the miraculous awakening of Miss Sarah Scantlin in Kansas and the success of the new brainwave test reported ... this week, my daughter deserves to have this test before she is starved to death by judicial decree," Schindler said.
Schindler is referring to a study released last week showing the level of neural activity of disabled patients who listened to tapes of their loved ones sharing family experiences matched that of the healthy patients.
The Schindlers say videotape shown on CNN of Sarah interacting with her parents prior to speaking is remarkably similar to videos of Terri interacting her family.
Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family says the Scantlin case shows why Florida courts should spare Terri Schiavo's life and prevent her estranged husband from ending her life.
"Terri Schiavo deserves the same chance at life that Sarah Scantlin was given," Dobson said. "Both cases have involved women who suffered debilitating injuries and continued to live in a disabled state. Today we celebrate the news that Ms. Scantlin has regained her memory and ability to speak, and is apparently on the road to recovery."
"Mental disabilities do not damage a person's worth -- the preciousness of life is not defined by one's abilities," Dobson added. "Those who suffer a disabling injury are entitled to the same right to life as we all are. Those seeking to take away Mrs. Schiavo's right to life should have second thoughts after hearing Sarah Scantlin's story."
LAST PARAGRAPH GREAT NEWS!!!!! Terri's parents are traveling to Kansas to meet with Sarah and her family

re: "...unplug their only source of life"
We note, too, that Terri requires only the feeding tube. She is not on life support, which most people think of as a ventilator. She requires less than Christopher Reeve did!
re: feeding tube: For some reason, Terri has not been given basic required periodic swallowing tests, which as I understand it are required by law.
Furthermore, Michael strictly forbids her being given anything by mouth, even though through these many years, it is documented and known that Terri has been given, and enjoyed, little bits of jello and chocolate pudding.
The fact remains that Terri is denied the most basic, decent care due to ANY human being.
