"Let's not get too holier than thou over this. American culture isn't exactly perfect in regards to respect towards women either."

America is the light of the world in treatment of women and has been since its inception. Only the Scandinavian countries can boast of a similarly strong record. Your assertion is rubbish.

Do you think madonna and brittney spears are good examples of proper treatment of women?? I don't

Notice that I NEVER stated "men's treatment of women"...I specifically typed out "american culture isn't exactly perfect" on purpose, because that is exactly what I meant. I personally blame women most for our culture's mistreatment of women. American pop culture is not very kind or respectful to women at all(in my opinion)...especially the hip hop culture. In this country, (some)women treat themselves like dirt...but then maybe they deserve it. After all they seem to be debasing themselves as sex objects in order to gain power over men, and thereby indirectly gaining power over other women.

You name me one other culture, other than americanized western cultures, that have this disgusting trait that we do. Do you think muslims are blind? Don't you think they see this in america and are disgusted by it? They use it as proof that christians are evil. It's only because we are immersed in it that we don't notice it.

You Know, it really wasn't that long ago that it wasn't like this in america. There was a time when the vast majority of women wore normal clothes. I see it in my family's photo albums. It wasn't until after WWII that things started to go awry.

I really think this all started when women began to gain buying power. When there was a demand created for this crap, the sales industry accommodated that demand in order to make a profit. And it's only accelerating. Now we are even seeing silly nonsensical automobiles that are designed specifically to separate superficial women from their money.

There's a saying in retail, it goes something like this: If you want to increase profit margin, sell to women.

My assertion is not rubbish.

I meant to say 'thought provoking' vice 'though provoking.' Sorry.

Well, MP Hirsi Ali in this story, seems to prefer our western culture. Probably because it doesn't make one fear for their life, or female parts.
