You always need fools to fall in line with the demogogues. This is outrageous. Bush asks for supplementals in order to avoid tacking this on to the budget. Why don't we just buy Afghanstan and turn it into our 51st state?

It is not foolish to understand that terrorism in the Middle East is directly related to our freedom and safety, and that destroying it is crucial to our survival. And it is not foolish to understand that it takes money to do the job.

Bush is not tacking this onto the budget because then it becomes part of the "baseline". Then, if in FY2007 he no longer needs it, he would be accused of "cutting defense" by $80 billion.
