A newspaperman once told me, "News is what your editor says it is, unless the publisher says it isn't." Used to be, that was true. Not any more - we're the publishers and editors.

It is these sorts of mini-admissions that are slowly, but surely, sinking the MSM. On the editorial pages we expect opinion and bias. But the MSM leak this into the "news" areas of publications, and when they get called on it, they lose, bit by bit, their authority and power. The blogts are there to take up the slack. Thank God.
