Bad blood over big-time lobbyist's big bashes

Sonoma County officials have pulled the plug on Sacramento mega- lobbyist Darius Anderson's legendary rural hilltop parties -- but not before the "Platinum Persuader" himself got slapped with a citizen's arrest for disturbing the peace.

It all started awhile back when Anderson -- a major money man for state Democrats -- bought a pristine, 76-acre ranch in Kenwood and eventually carved a mile-and-a-half road up the hillside, removing trees along the way and infuriating many of his new neighbors.

Add in that Anderson was one of the key players trying to bring an Indian casino to the area, and he quickly became one of the least-liked guys in town.

That fact was driven home as Anderson laid plans to build a replica of Jack London's Wolf House, the Sonoma estate 4 miles away that burned shortly before the author was to have moved in.

Unknown intruders have repeatedly vandalized Anderson's property, inflicting tens of thousands of dollars in damage -- destroying an Airstream trailer and cutting the brake lines and slashing the tires on bulldozers.

And while the house has yet to be built, Anderson has been letting out the site for tent parties.

His own wedding on the estate three years ago attracted a Who's Who of Democratic politics -- including then-Gov. Gray Davis, Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown, Sen. Barbara Boxer and then-state Senate President John Burton.

But it was the big white-tent "bipartisan nuptials'' of Republican lobbyist Mary Gonsalves and Democratic spinmeister Jason Kinney that got the current rumble going.

Among the 300 or so guests at the late September gathering were Senate President Don Perata, newly elected South Bay Democratic state Sen. Elaine Alquist, and Democratic Assembly members Nicole Parra of Hanford and Lloyd Levine of Van Nuys.

Darius Anderson is a real slime. Perfect example of a limousine liberal. Barbara Boxer's son Dougie and Darius are partners in a Indian casino scheme slated for Sonoma County. Senator Boxer was the one who got special legislation for the proposed casino tribe, then claimed she never knew her little "Junior" was involved in lobbying efforts to get the casino rolling along. Yeah, right.
