Alan Keyes' Daughter Coming Out
CBS News ^ | February 14, 2005

Posted on 02/14/2005 12:32:30 AM PST by RWR8189

(CBS) The 19-year-old daughter of Alan Keyes has a Valentine for the anti-gay rights conservative pundit and frequent Republican candidate.

Maya Marcel-Keyes will be making her first public appearance as a gay activist at a Valentine Day's rally in front of the Maryland State House, says Dan Furmansky, the leader of Equality Maryland, a gay rights group.

Last summer her father, a conservative pundit and frequent Republican candidate, caused a stir during the Republican convention by labeling Vice President Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter a sinner and calling homosexuality "selfish hedonism."

"It was kind of strange that he said it like a hypothetical," she told the Washington Post. "It was really kind of unpleasant."

Marcel-Keyes told the Post her parents have thrown her out of the house, stopped speaking to her and refuse to pay for college because she is gay. She said she loves her parents.

Keyes' Web site says he is against "the homosexual rights agenda, including same-sex marriage."

Marcel-Keyes grew up in Darnestown, Md., attended a conservative Catholic school for girls in McLean, Va., spent a year in the south of India advocating tribal rights, and plans to attend Brown University this fall, according to an Equality Maryland press release.

Furmansky told CBSNews.com that Marcel-Keyes would not be speaking to the media ahead of Monday's rally, and probably not afterward, either.

Bloggers have identified her Web site as http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=Xmisled0youthX. The author of the blog says it is public and she has nothing to hide.

A lot of them just 'connect.' Sex has become something God did not intend for it to be, that's for sure.

If you have doubts about what Keyes has said about reparations please research it. You may not agree with him but if you are fair minded you will see that he is no ally of the reparations victimhood crowd. To follow his suggestion would their cause.

Is that like posting behind Alan Keyes' back?

If Keyes was a Freeper and I knew his screenname, I would follow FR etiquette and ping him to this thread. You should do the same when referring to sinskpur in a post, IMO.

Your posts speak volumes about the state of your own hearts.

Let me spell it out: I think Keyes is a narcissistic, self-righteous jackass who does much more harm to the conservative cause than he does good. I'm glad that he is fading from the political scene and hope that he will no longer darken the door of the GOP.

I also feel sorry for his poor daughter. With Keyes as the male role model in her life, it's not surprising that she has become a lesbian.

I haven't met those who have missed out on a solid relationship with mother....but perhaps that's just me. More often, I find it is a father-love gap. I think that's because the real need human have (male or female) is for their heavenly Father.

You left out this part: "And the second part is as great as the first: YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS I HAVE LOVED YOU."

Correct.

To have credibility a poster should always be prepared to provide citations or links.

You teach your kids how to treat you. Her bitterness toward him is quite evident; this is payback with a capital P.

One would hope he could learn something from all this, but somehow I doubt he will.

My tagline was uttered by St. Francis of Assisi.

Perhaps you've heard of him.

I prefer thinking of them as experimenting. They aren't sure WHICH they are sometimes. They don't go back to that lifestyle as far as I can tell, but, who knows? I'm only speculating.

I think sexuality is more of a continuum than a binary. The majority of people are on the "completely straight" (would never consider engaging in homosexuality) or "almost completely straight" (would only consider engaging in a homosexual act in very limited circumstances, such as experimenting in college)end of the scale. A small minority is on the "completely homosexual" end of the scale. Finally, a slightly larger minority is flexible in their approach to homosexuality, in varying degrees. I knew a guy in college who was involved with men and women in a 1:2 ratio, more or less, for example.

Yup. When Keyes is lying on his deathbed, I wonder if he'll regret all the years he and his daughter spent estranged. Will it be worth it?

You brought up the subject of Keyes and reparations on this thread. I challenged it veracity. Where are your citations and links?

To: All

I just got this email and thought it was appropriate

GOD CREATED CHILDREN (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN)

To those of us who have children in our lives, whether they are our own, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or students...here is something to make you chuckle. Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said was "DON'T!"

"Don't what?" Adam replied.

"Don't eat the forbidden fruit." God said.

"Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit? Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit!!!!!"

"No Way!"

"Yes way!"

"Do NOT eat the fruit!" said God.

"Why"

"Because I am your Father and I said so!" God replied, wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants. A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was angry! "Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit?" God asked.

"Uh huh," Adam replied.

"Then why did you?" said the Father.

"I don't know," said Eve.

"She started it!" Adam said

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"DID NOT!"

Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

BUT THERE IS REASSURANCE IN THE STORY! If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself. If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!
1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children.

3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.

4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.

5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own.

6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY: Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day.

AND FINALLY:

F YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE, DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:

"TAKE TWO ASPIRIN" AND "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN"!!!!!

No one, not even you, has challenged my statement.

You want added context. So add it.

It must be a real coup for homo-activists to recruit the children of conservative politicians.

I wonder about the stories of conservative families who have written off homosexual kids who have come out. That is far more common than this bs acceptance the MSM pushes. How about the mourning mothers and fathers go through? It must be the same emotions and process as losing a child to death.

How many families are just better off writing off such an out child? Particularly families with other children and grand children.

It's "Thou shall love thy neighbour as thyself" And now the exegesis of the passage from Robert Jamieson, A. R. Fausset and David Brown - "Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible":

Now, as we are not to love ourselves supremely, this is virtually a command, in the first place, not to love our neighbor with all our heart and soul and mind and strength. And thus it is a condemnation of the idolatry of the creature. Our supreme and uttermost affection is to be reserved for God. But as sincerely as ourselves we are to love all mankind, and with the same readiness to do and suffer for them as we should reasonably desire them to show to us. The golden rule (Mt 7:12) is here our best interpreter of the nature and extent of these claims. >/I>

Would you like to hear the Catholic exegesis?
