"Read that. Boy they didn't like him much did they?"

For a few years they spit his name, if they had to use it at all. Krinton used to call him 'Sludge.' Poor witt-o babies.

If Rush Limbaugh can be credited with bringing AM talk into the format and status that it is today (and I think he can be), then Matt Drudge is probably the guy that brought us the original blog/news format.

Now some folks, even ones here on FR, slam these guys and talk as though they are ignorant yahoos, but these guys (Limbaugh and Drudge) have done more heavy lifting for the cause of free speech in out time than any 12 dozen of their critics. I don't always agree with these two, or like what they sometimes promote, but they sure as hell have done a HUGE amount of good for all of us in very concrete ways. In short, I doubt very much that we would be in the places we are today as conservatives if it weren't for the contributions these two guys have made.

As a final note on Drudge. In the last few weeks of krinton II, the master-baitor and his queen the evil one held a lawn party for all members of the press. Matt Drudge attended. As all of the presstitutes swarmed around krinton and were engaged in boot licking and fawning, Drudge got into the line to greet him. All of a sudden, Drudge appeared before krinton before he knew he was there and Drudge pulled open his suit jacket to reveal his T-shirt underneath (yes, he only had on a T and the suit coat). On the T-shirt he had a big picture of a crying Elian Gonzales being held by his uncle with Reno's goon shoving a submariner gun into their faces. The caption under the picture read: "It's for the children!"

The smear of presstitutes (I like that collective term for them don't you? Remember, you heard it hear first) around krinton and Drudge gasped. krinton recoiled. Drudge smiled. Now, if that wasn't one of the classic FReeps of all time, I'll eat Drudge's hat.

So, anyway, you can see why these swine at the NPC hated (still do) his guts. BTW, the National Press Club is where the Swiftboat Veterans held their first press conference back in May of 2004 and laid out John F'ing Kerry's deceit and lies about his service record. The press response was zero. That is, ZERO. Zip, nada, nothing. These bastards are lying slut shills. Despite the lack of formal training (if you could even laughingly call two dozen courses of core curriculum in a BA degree that) the blogs have laid the hypocritical core of the media establishment bare. Or, if you prefer a more Biblical metaphor, they have laid bare the nakedness of the whores of babble-on.

So, anyhoo, summing up - yes, the press hates Drudge.

At the same time, some in the traditional media are growing alarmed as they watch careers being destroyed by what they see as the growing power of rampant, unedited dialogue.

Boo-hoo-hoo. What sanctimony and hypocrisy! The "traditional" media doesn't give a rat's ass about destroying careers of anyone they disagree with. It's only when their ox is being gored that they break out the whine and cheese over "destroyed careers."

That is an unbelieveable article, filled with lots of little incriminating nuggets!

Alison Mitchell, deputy national editor for The New York Times (Click for QuikCap), points to the changing media landscape and its impact on what newspapers choose to cover. "I'm not sure that in an era of no-cable television we would even have looked into it," she said

But Washington Post Executive Editor Leonard Downie Jr. said newspapers can still drive their own agenda. "I don't think we are lessening at all our judgment of the news," he told E&P. "There is much more media, but we still judge for ourselves which facts we report in The Washington Post."

Finally, Sherrie Mazingo of the Star Tribune in Minneapolis wrote that readers were getting overwhelmed by some of the coverage. "The claims and counter-claims ... have become a significant distraction," she said. (ME: HUH???)
