On C-SPAN about 2 weeks ago I saw John Linder, Jack Kingston and several other congress critters discussing the issue on the floor. I dont know how far along it is or if is even in a committee

I don't know when it'll come up for debate - just having it debated would be a victory for reformers. There is data that shows then when people find out about the Fair Tax, favorables are like 74%.

I'd guess tax time it'll come up - but I don't know if we'll get it to the floor for another few years.

I was hoping the rate would be lowered to 25% inclusive or so...

It is in the Ways and Means Committee and has about 20 co-sponsors. There were about 55 co-sponsors in the last session and, hopefully, we will get back to that level within the next couple of months. This session of congress is barely 30 days old. All bills had to be reentered in the new session of congress.
