For those of you just waiting for Howard Dean to start making gaffes, see the Saturday Washington Post account of his tour through the party's special-interest caucuses. I'm somewhat shocked the Post publicized this little tour. For pure, unadulterated Dean, you get this: "You are among the most persecuted people in the history of mankind," Dean tells his first audience, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Caucus. Let's hope the African-American caucus didn't hear that. (Not to mention anyone who remembers the Holocaust, the Huguenots, throwing Christians to the lions...)
As for what Dean said to the black caucus, he kicks the GOP in the groin. "He surveys the crowd of 150 crammed into the room. 'You think the RNC could get this many people of color into a single room?' he marvels. 'Maybe if they got the hotel staff in there.'"
It's also somewhat entertaining to read Dean trying to adopt spin control about the party's ultraliberalism. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20050213/ap_on_el_ge/democrats
Dean says that no one is "pro-abortion," but "we are the party in favor of allowing women to make up their own minds about their health care." And Democrats are not for "gay marriage," but "we are the party that has always believed in equal rights under the law for all people." Voters are smart enough to know that the Democrats are staunch defenders of abortion and homosexuality, whatever rhetorical embroidery Dean attempts. How he will help in red states with this kind of talk is a mystery. Posted at 08:48 AM
The only the following has to do with Dean is that its as funny. From an email from who knows where...
Now wait, the dims "have" the African American vote all tied up. So, all they could get to meet with Dean was 150?
Seems more like Dean shot himself in the foot than he kicked the GOP in the groin.
Rush and Hannity are going to have much fun with Dean. Lots of entertaining radio for us Republcians.
Ya gotta figure that some of those Democrat CongressCritters from blue states who would hide under the table when Kerry came to town will now be sidling up to Denny Hastert to inquire about converting to Republicanism. They aren't going to survive another election as a Democrat with Dean running around as the spokesperson for the party. |
"'Maybe if they got the hotel staff in there.'"
I'm sorry, those people are Hispanic!
I'm speechless.
And Democrats are not for "gay marriage," but "we are the party that has always believed in equal rights under the law for all people."
So you'll allow people to marry more than one spouse, marry their brother or sister, etc.?
If not, why not, Howie?
Given that Howard Dean represents the MoveOn.org/Michael Moore Ultra-Left faction of the Party, at the rate things are going we may just see the Democratic Party split into two by 2010 at latest.
That's about as racist as it gets. But will he be called on it? Nawwww...
Every day is Christmas!!!

'Maybe if they got the hotel staff in there.'
Now Howie wouldn't be stereotyping blacks, would he?
They haven't been able to in the past ... they aren't gonna be able to now
Yeeee-haw!
And that just makes me giddy with happiness. Howie's going to do more for the Republican Party than even Terry McAuliffe.
How bout just Deanky. You're just being Deanky.
If your gonna be Deanky, go outside.
I don't think they so much "allowed" it. I think it's just that the extreme elements are taking over the party. I would not be surprised at all to see the Democratic Party split at some future point. The party has been co-opted by the Hollyweird/NYC-Washington crowd. The Democrats have gotten by for decades because millions of lunch-pail, blue-collar union guys were brought up to hate Republicans. Believe it or not, Archie Bunker of "All In The Family" fame was a die-hard Democrat! Today, Archie Bunker would be a Republican. For now, many working class folk are starting to realize that the Democratic party of FDR, Truman and JFK is no more.
Great catch! I missed that little nugget of joy.
"You are among the most persecuted people in the history of mankind," Dean tells his first audience, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Caucus. This leads off a rapid-fire series of applause lines from Dean, who during his presidential campaign once declared, "If Bill Clinton can be the first 'black president,' I can be our first 'gay president.' "
Perhaps what you heard on Fox was a reference to the above statement by the "first gay president."
The Democrats are the party that has always believed in equal rights for all people? The party of slavery, of opposition to citizenship for the freedmen after 1865, of disfranchisement of black voters and support for Jim Crow laws? Lucky for Dean that most people have a weak grasp of American history.
Mr. Dean is in for a rude awakening. A "sea change" of political feeling and loyalty is underway among the American Black community. I went to see the movie "Coach Carter" yesterday. Many messages in that film about personal responsibilty/accountability, family involvement, individual effort, etc. Blacks are beginning to see that they have been had and used by their Democrat party slavemasters and their so-called liberal, left-wing leaders. It just shows that Howard Dean does not have a clue what is afoot. But....for that matter, neither does the entire "traitor" Democrat party!!!
