The US would have no official position on the assassination of the head of state of another country, and in fact, even discussing the possibility when a state of war does not exist between another country and ourselves may be illegal. But nothing prevents an indigenous individual or organization from undertaking such a task, and in that event, how could it be laid at the feet of the US?
Castro is just practicing his personal paranoia.

I certainly hope we will be responsible for UGO's departure from this mortal coil and I hope that his departure will be as spectacularly colorful as possible. Maybe Fidel would like to join him in Caracas for a spectacular joint departure.
