The best place would be on the corner of Highland and Hollywood, where we were two years ago, before the police got heavy handed. That's where all the limos have to stop and see us.

We could go as the Sunshine Freepers:

Recall Walter Matheau's famous line from "The Sunshine Boys".

Better, imagine ordering a bunch of these in pink with the word FREEDOM on the index finger and FREE REPUBLIC on the palm?

Dip the index fingers in purple RIT dye.

In a time of war shouldn't the Oscar orgy be low key? Why are they spending so much money on self promotion?

;>)

This stunt plays well into the right's concerted campaign to paint Hollywood as elitist and anti-American, and Hollywood stars as bumbling actors, out of touch with the red-state reality of the American political landscape. Paint them as that? They ARE that.

Not sure that the purple fingers will be understoood from a distance...

How about something BIG (and TV-freindly) like:

W-2
HOLLYWOOD-0

The best place would be on the corner of Highland and Hollywood, where we were two years ago, before the police got heavy handed. That's where all the limos have to stop and see us.
Ted and Jeffers and I will be meeting near Hollywood & Highland this Thursday night -- to discuss strategy and tactics.
The corner of Hollywood & Highland **is** the prime location for US, but thousands of Oscar fans have the same idea for THEM. :(
As you may recall, the reason that we were able to command such a great position TWO YEARS AGO was that the Red Carpet ceremonies were cancelled beacuse of security concerns, with the beginning of our liberation of Iraq -- so we had that corner (and the media) virtually to ourselves.
LAST YEAR, if you did not get in position before 10 am (as I did) you were locked out (as Ted was).
The police started to limit access to that corner well before noon -- and then after noon, they denied entrance to everyone not already in place.
Very likely, they will follow a SIMILAR plan this year.
As I recall, the show begins INSIDE the Kodak Theatre at 5 pm (CA time) -- and the Red Carpet/limo entrances begin OUTSIDE the theatre around 3 pm.
With luck, the limos will arrive as they did LAST YEAR, driving westbound on Hollywood -- perhaps driving right past the billboard on Hollywood and Whitley.

Not likely. :(
At least not that close to "Hollywood & Highland" -- too many fans.
But, I will talk with Ted -- soon.
He has CONNECTIONS. :o)

Can Ron Silver get a Limo and invite a few of FReepers best?

Now that would be effective!

If you want to freep Hollywood, bash it for ignoring The Passion of the Christ and for picking an airhead like Chris Rock to host the Oscars...

What a smart in-your-face idea!!

At least you left that great imaginary President OFF the billboard...

Okay, I admit it - I think "The West Wing" ROCKS!!!

(Oh and BTW before you call me a "troll" for being a Wingnut: "The West Wing" supports charter schools for D.C. - go see http://www.detnews.com/2004/editorial/0403/04/a09-81488.htm . I doubt seriously the Hollywood elite liked THAT episode!!)

Well said, but leave Martin Sheen out of it.

Here's why: As POTUS Josiah Bartlet of "The West Wing" he helped DECREASE Democratic turnout by:

a) Not endorsing John Kerry on the show!!!
b) Not letting John Edwards be his imaginary VP but having a wanna-be take over on "The West Wing"!!!
c) Creating an imaginary world for Democrats to hide in...
d) Not giving a GOTV message the Wednesday before 2 November!!!

Besides, I like the show. Missed only ONE episode. But the "flyover states" joke a few episodes back irked me off - my parents are from the South. And I sort-of like NASCAR.
