Seems St. Pete Times had no idea how much we'd enjoy this article. When I follow the link I get ....
The requested object does not exist on this server. The link you followed is either outdated, inaccurate, or the server has been instructed not to let you have it
Emphasisi mine.

Nothing sinister here. Our forensic team out here indicates that a period was left out of the original link (i.e., "_.shtml", not "_shtml"). We doubt that the SP Times has clue we're having so much fun with their article.

I read this article or one extremely similar about a month age.
After I read this, I heard, one of those things heard only once, that many of out-of-boss congressional staffers were being absorbed into existing congressional and senatorial staffs. When whatever committee meets to allocate the budget for each office, the Republican proportion should have gone up, and the Dem proportion gone down by the same amount. The Dems would not agree to the downsizing of their budgets.
I did not get amy more details of how that was resolved, but would bet that the Dems beat the Rs in the final budget resolution.
