Ohhhhhhhhhh... you gave me an idea. Perhaps the WH should have a lefty presser and then an everyone else presser. Then the can judge the quality of the information that comes forth without all the p*ss&vinegar dressing on top.
Read that far and had to pause and say "No kidding". That's what I've been saying, it was so obvious from the state of the record.
Back to reading the rest...
(the "media accounts" were based on the ravings of the lunatics at the daily kos that were spoonfed to them by David Brock who got it from Sid Blumenthal, etc. "media reports"..give me a break)
As to press passes and the WH letting in opinion sites, they do---from across the spetrum.
Critics have accused the White House of granting unusual access to Jeff Gannon (search), the reporter who recently resigned as White House correspondent for a conservative Web site.
But the White House clears in other reporters with partisan views, as long as they represent a news organization that publishes regularly. That includes Russell Mokhiber, who works for Ralph Nader's Corporate Crimes Reporter. Mokhiber recently asked Press Secretary Scott McClellan if the president believes the Sixth Commandment thou shalt not kill applies to the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
The White House says they welcome a wide range of views in the briefing room.
~snip~
The kind of people that would leave a dead cat on a doorstep...
"They'll get theirs. The big ol wheel will come around."
Done deal. Eason Jordan just got bagged.
Well, shucks, I just said the same thing but you beat me to it! Sory for doubling up on it.
I think it's really interesting that the FBI spoke to him for 90 minutes. It sounds like this investigation is being very thorough. And look who the grand jury did want to speak to. Gannon's information could well be useful without having to be called in.
Waiting to hear from that appellate court on those contempt citations for the journalists the grand jury DOES want to hear from.
"My mother and my brother and his wife in Pennsylvania were being harassed with phone calls and threats."
"I wonder what kind of people might do this kind of thing....."
The media folks knew this would happen. That's why they put his name out there. Keith Olbermann and the rest of the tinfoil brigade all but asked people to harass the guy.
Gannon himself could probably have taken the heat, but to do stuff to his relatives is just plain wrong. These threats should be investigated. He shouldn't have to take heat like that, either. Nobody should. I canot help but consider the sheer absurdity of harassing this guy out of a job and putting his entire family in danger because a select few had a problem with a question he asked. Aren't these the same stuffed shirts that are always saying that they can ask whatever they want?
Ahh, but I'm venturing down a well-work trail with these thoughts. Best of luck to Mr. Gannon or whatever his real name is. I was a mechanic once as well, and I still love fixing stuff.
See post #23. This WH is amazingly open...and I'm confident they are careful with background checks. I had to roll my eyes at the arch hinting this interview indulged in. What a crackpot.
The minute that CNN interview ended yesterday you could practically hear the air going out of the lefties' balloon.
Then last night Media Matters issued a desperate press release practically screaming for help that the story not die. But it was too late.
It was dead.
bump
" Perhaps the WH should have a lefty presser and then an everyone else presser. "
That's what I thought.
This way, if the high and mighty WH press corps stamps their little feet and refuses to allow the new media to participate, they can continue to have the same old tired lefty briefing and then an informative one, with the new media.
