Thank you, bump or tomorrows paper
Catholic Ping - Come home for Easter and experience Gods merciful love. Please freepmail me if you want on/off this list
I can't quite agree with Republicans on abortion
sure I agree it should be limited
but why stop at defining "life" begins at conception ? that's just sperm & egg saying "hey let's get together"
do y'all really believe that a 1 celled organism deserves as much protection as say, an 18 year old whose decided to carry a rifle to defend this country ?
what a crock
and why stop at when the egg/sperm get together ?
why not take it further, like when 2 people agree to have a child ?? by golly, if man/woman have verbally agreed to have a child, isn't that verbal agreement a "life" ?
where does this stop ??
Pro-life ping!
So to you a life is only valid if a man and woman agree to not kill the one celled animal?
Better to ask "Where does this start?"
With a diploid # of chromosomes, i.e., a full, human, unique genetic signature.
Says it all right there.
Uh....b/c no one (except possibly you) has ever been silly enough to suggest that a verbal agreement between two people is in fact a living organism.
LOL...y'know even the wackiest libs know that the "living constitution" is just a metaphor.
heh
no doubt this is a major slippery slope topic
my point is that this pro-life at all costs in all situations for all people doesn't seem to be realistic, effective, whatever you want to call it
what about rape, birth defects, divorce, etc ??
why burden the planet with another life destined for inevitable misery ?
sure it's possible for overwhelming odds to be surmounted
and farrrrrrrrrrrrr be it for me to decide who lives & dies
as science advances my guess is it will become possible to predict future diseases much better using DNA stuff
so yes here comes the EUGENICS topic
another guess of mine is eventually however long that will be who knows science will overcome peoples ethical dislikes to slowly improve everybody's health by weeding out the all too many yucky diseases
what a mess
and really, do y'all think that if EVERYONE had a choice would they
1. let God control their births
2. pick a healthy good looking smart baby
3. pick a diseased ugly dumb baby
Indeed, it was probably unknown since little is still known about variation in genetics as opposed to abnormal genetics. My sister was told her fetus showed abnormal genes and would likely be abnormal. She went ahead and had the child and he did have a genetic flaw which happened to be the same one I possess and others in my family tree have possessed. A third nipple, also known as a witch's tit or the devil's mark, only a few hundred years ago would have been an accepted reason for infanticide, even after birth. It seems that the ages have darkened again. That saddens me to no end. For, from personal experience I know how much one person can make a difference in the world and to the world.
Heh?
I hear half the world lives in pretty poor conditions, maybe we should put them out of their misery too.
hey so do I
I was also born with birth defects
some weirdo bone joint disease that causes toes/ankles & fingers to curl in, so I had to wear braces & if it had been worse (back in 1960 that is) I probably would have been put up for adoption
then let's move to the skin diseases I was born with
notice the trend here ?
my saving grace in addition to being born in the U-S-A with fairly helpful parents is that I'm also fairly bright, fairly lucky (let's not try to explain that one) and somehow managed to get into computer field
but if I had been born 50 years earlier my life would have sucked even more
have I benefited the planet ?
I like to think so.........
but what about my other family members ? one of which is severly mentally ill & has caused several tons of chaos & destruction in her spins around the sun
so yes IMHO several things reallllllllly should be eliminated from the gene pool
how that will be done who knows ?
how long will it take who knows ?
let's read some science fiction to find out !!!!!!!!
Are you a Calvinist or something?
thanks. I'll check it out once it's posted.
The text of H.R.776 has not yet been received from GPO.
Bills are generally sent to the Library of Congress from the Government Printing Office a day or two after they are introduced on the floor of the House or Senate. Delays can occur when there are a large number of bills to prepare or when a very large bill has to be printed.
"so yes IMHO several things reallllllllly should be eliminated from the gene pool"
Okay, so you are suggesting we kill or "get rid of" all those "undesirables" before birth? For thats the only way to do it now. Sounds like crap.
uh oh. Dont say that, or the Huegenots will come over here and bash :)
