The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the President’s ‘guest worker’ amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration. Free Republic is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from around the country.
The problem for the administration of the site is that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views of most conservatives. The management’s answer to this conflict between the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.
Members and readers of Free Republic would be surprised to know that many members of their community have fallen silent on the discussions about illegal immigration lately because free speech is an illusion on FR.com. They are silent because they have been banned from the Web site without warning, cause, or explanation in most cases. For weeks the moderators have been suspending and banning new members that chimed in quickly on the immigration debates.
Now this trend has broadened as the first groups of long-term users were suspended or banned this past week. Although Robinson and his staff removed many members of the Free Republic community in the first few days of the purge, those that religiously support President Bush’s immigration plan, open borders and approve of public benefits for illegal aliens remain on the forum. Those that were banned were the members that wanted more done to control illegal immigration and a strict observance to the President’s Oath of Office.
It is out and out smearing, a tactic, I might add, often used by the far Left, by Communists, and by all haters who seek to undermine the USA and Western Civilization in general. Nothing would satisfy our enemies, foreign and domestic, more, than seeing balkanization and infighting throughout the Western countries, and particularly, within the right wing.
IMO, if it is not an issue worth discussing on this forum, then your not against it.
The best way to prevent the tarring of the rightist coalition with the evils of Nazism and other extremism is to take a leading position vis a vis borders, language and culture. Don't leave the hard lines regarding national sovereignty to the extremists. Own the hard line and drive it. One can take such a position without being racist. In fact, the smartest lovers of freedom and human rights understand this. Witness Michelle Malkin among others.
And how many times have we heard their old tired excuses about how we "Anti-illegal-aliens"(True Americans in my book), are a very small minority on this site(The recent Poll on this site once again proves them wrong).
And when the people who they pointed to as true Conservatives, start saying the same thing we have been saying all along, their excuse is, "They really are not Conservatives after all". People like Hannity, Rush and Liddy are True Americans in my book.
In fact one Pro-Illegal (green card holder who shall go nameless but most know who he is), called anyone who was Anti-illegal,That he replied to, a Racist Punk Idiot and yet the only thing that happend was he was told to stop the personal attacks (After I hit the abuse button), and was still allowed to post here.
Here is a perfect example of why "Free" Republic has become a joke. The FROBL race baiters can say ANYTHING, including calling loyal FReepers like myself "Stormfront Nazis" and they are NEVER banned.
If Armstrong Williams was worth over $100,000 to the RNC to subvert, just to promote "No child left behind," them how much more is it worth for the RNC to subvert formerly "Free" Republic, with well-placed donations, over the president's guest worker amnesty program?
It is not deniable that the RNC, via "marketing firms" and "PR firms" as cutouts, has been providing major payola to subvert columnists.
If Armstrong "Nobody" Williams was worth over $100,000 to the RNC, how much is the website which brought down Dan Rather worth to subvert over the illegal immigration issue?
I have not jumped into this controversy, I have basically not been posting on FR this year for personal reasons, but now I must add my dos centavos.
Jim, you are either part of the problem, and have sold out, or you are being misused terribly, via targeted RNC donations under the cover of these disgraceful race-baiting FROBLs.
It's been very, very sad to watch this disgraceful episode in FR history.
If Dane is not immediately banned for calling a freeper a Nazi racist above, we will know for certain that "Free" Republic has jumped the shark for the Open Border Lobby.

Why not call a spade a spade - admit, "Yes there are out-and-out neo-Nazis and racists out there"; then work out a practical solution that cuts them out of the deal entirely?
And Michelle Malkin, in my opinion, is hardt a smart defender of freedom. I think Linda Chavez has done a far better job - and has actually DONE THINGS (witness her work at Center for Equal Opportunity) on many of racial and cultural issues, although my leanings are more libertarian than hers.

You got a great point. I have often said that IMO Democrat moles run the California Republican Party.
Why? Look at the Republican Party's recent performance. Such as the opposition to the recall -- then after realizing it was working the Party did jump in with "star power" and stiff-armed aside the hundreds who worked tirelessly to collect enough signatures even without Issa's million dollars.
Also, it was eye-opening to see the differences between Dems and Reps as the recall was debated. The short version is the Dems see politics as 24/7, wall-to-wall -- even maintaining something akin to baseball's farm clubs, the military's reserves, and even an enemy's "sleeper cells." Why wouldn't they put moles in the enemy's camp?

I not only admit there are Nazis (and other totaltiarians and totalitarian movements) out there but seek to marginalize and defeat them outright. And the solution to eliminate them is to own the issues of borders, language and culture. These issues are not innnately racist. Our borders are well demarcated. Our language is English. And our culture is a unique but distinct one that came from a British colony. Assimilation is not racism, neither is insistence on English competency. And borders can be strictly defended, fairly and consistently.

I have lived here for 53 years and have first-hand experience with the problems associated with illegal immigration.
Also, I believe that we must apply political pressure that works.... Anger and open hostility or "eating our own" will not advance the ball.....
And then using the same tactics that the Libs use to promote their line of thinking.What's the old saying, "If it looks talks and acts like a duck".

This is the worst thread on FR I've ever read. Time to put everyone on double secret probabtion. Time for the usual suspects to shut up and let others who may have something to say other than the usual talking points show up.
My proposition: anyone of the following posters who post anything on an immigration thread for the next 2 weeks gets a temporary ban. That includes staytrue, dane, bayourod, once-ler, fitz, wardaddy, skeeter, marine inspector and a bunch more for you to list at your discression. Send everyone on the list a freepmail first as a warning.
It is time for the nutcases to shut up and let someone else talk and anyone who participated on this thread gets at least a nomination for a nutcase award.
