The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the President’s ‘guest worker’ amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration. Free Republic is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from around the country.
The problem for the administration of the site is that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views of most conservatives. The management’s answer to this conflict between the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.
Members and readers of Free Republic would be surprised to know that many members of their community have fallen silent on the discussions about illegal immigration lately because free speech is an illusion on FR.com. They are silent because they have been banned from the Web site without warning, cause, or explanation in most cases. For weeks the moderators have been suspending and banning new members that chimed in quickly on the immigration debates.
Now this trend has broadened as the first groups of long-term users were suspended or banned this past week. Although Robinson and his staff removed many members of the Free Republic community in the first few days of the purge, those that religiously support President Bush’s immigration plan, open borders and approve of public benefits for illegal aliens remain on the forum. Those that were banned were the members that wanted more done to control illegal immigration and a strict observance to the President’s Oath of Office.

I have had my head handed to me on these threads a few times and although I always follow them, I rarely post anymore. I leave the posting to Dat Mon.
I have seen the race baiting and for the life of me cannot understand how many of these people are still on this forum. The same tired garbage is recycled on every thread and the arguments are refuted time and time again. If someone with a valid point posts to these people they are simply ignored.
Same ole demo tactic of accusing the other side of what you are doing.
I don't know how many times they can get away with it but it seems like they have carte blanche around here.

You have provided me links from Stormfront to Minuteman Project by I assume Stormfront members. I don't think anyone could argue that border control types getting into bed with Stormfronters is bad but I did not see on any of those sites where they themselves linked to Stormfront. Maybe I missed something. That is what I said on my last post last nite. However I have not studied them. FR is my site and I have fought for my views here aplenty over the years.. haven't needed another site.
I don't agree with you on immigration. That is painfully obvious I reckon but unless you know something the rest of us don't, I was unaware that some of those banned were Stormfront Neo-Nazis.
As I have said before, I am not in favor of amnesty in any form, open borders nor massive legal immigration from anywhere. And from what I have seen on this forum, somewhere between 70-80% of freepers do not support the president's plan.
Anyone can link to anywhere from anywhere.

Do you JR want amnesty for illegals?
Do you think the border should be secured or closed as best possible?
Do you think legal immigration should be limited to those with needed skills or our allies being persecuted politically and needing refuge?
Do you think immigration numbers should be limited due to sheer magnitude as well?
I have not even touched on the post 9-11 implications, that's another thread.
Those are the basis of my views.

I have never asked you these questions, in fact I never argue with you period. I am here mainly for news, friends...many of whom I know personally and to support the forum and the cause which I have more than most I'd venture. I usually only get entangled on these threads now and have always had rough play on the South-bshing threads and it's no coincidence that my opponents here on immigration are virtually the same as on the South-bashing threads. I realize you don't understand South-bashing threads and that we must look like antiquated fools to you but it comes back to culture...my culture and I fear you and I have divergent views on just what that is and I'm not sure that can be helped. It is not a cliche that we all have perspective shaped by our personal bias...everyone here.
I do not think this site is overrun with racists, quite the contrary, I think it is overrun by a tiny group of very loud race baiters many of whom have a personal dog in this hunt and who have had an unrestrained field day here the past few days. Generally, when we think of leftist / Communist / other totalitarian moles, we think of the DU clown who just showed up yesterday and gets zotted today. But not all leftists are that lame. I would imagine that there are a few, very cunning ones, who have been here since 1998. Think about it. That's when FR first got on the Clintons' / communists' radar screen. This class of professional mole would know how to appear to be a big tenter, and yet, would also know how to inflict ongoing, substantial damage over the long term. They have never been exposed or banned. Some must still be here.
