Not so ‘Free Republic’: The Shot Heard Around the Net
The Conservative Voice ^

The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the Presidents guest worker amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration. Free Republic is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from around the country.
The problem for the administration of the site is that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views of most conservatives. The managements answer to this conflict between the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.
Members and readers of Free Republic would be surprised to know that many members of their community have fallen silent on the discussions about illegal immigration lately because free speech is an illusion on FR.com. They are silent because they have been banned from the Web site without warning, cause, or explanation in most cases. For weeks the moderators have been suspending and banning new members that chimed in quickly on the immigration debates.
Now this trend has broadened as the first groups of long-term users were suspended or banned this past week. Although Robinson and his staff removed many members of the Free Republic community in the first few days of the purge, those that religiously support President Bushs immigration plan, open borders and approve of public benefits for illegal aliens remain on the forum. Those that were banned were the members that wanted more done to control illegal immigration and a strict observance to the Presidents Oath of Office.

Yes, George W. Bush is better than John F. Kerry. Yes, generally speaking, Republicans are better than Democrats. But frankly that seems to be about as "deep" as most FReepers are interested in going. That is not conservatism That is not "your" conservatism. Who made you the arbiter of what is conservative and what is not.
Like I said before the views espoused by some so-called conservatives(the ones you admire, IMO) as in the links on reply #2963 of this thread would make the father of the modern conservative movement, Ronald Reagan, sick to his stomach.

Actually, the father of the modern "Conservative Movement", was Barry Goldwater. Reagan was just the best at delivering our ideas to the American people.
What would truly make Reagan sick to his stomach is the utter collapse of the rule of law in his beloved USA, via the current administrations policy of deliberate non-enforcement of immigration/border enforcement law.

Rushing out a thousand miles to the border with a rifle is not self-defense but ideologue-addled lunacy. You're really afraid of guns, aren't you? You should ask a gun owning friend to take you to the range one of these days to quell this.

The open borders guys are the ones promoting the agenda of racists, specifically the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or MEChA, which stands for the Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan. Their motto is "Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada (For the Race, everything. For those outside the Race, nothing)."

Second President Bush isn't proposing amnesty, but a way to bring some sanity to a system that has been out of whack for 40 years.

It's not about cajones, it's about respect. Something I don't have for you.
When I speak to you, you'll know it.

Second President Bush isn't proposing amnesty Then, what do you call giving work visa's to illegal aliens, a punishment?
To: k2blader
I think FR will continue to be the best conservative news site on the web for a while to come as long as the majority of people who contribute to it (FReepers) are truly interested in advancing conservatism. Agreed.

Eventually, regardless of what we do, the situation in Mexico will explode. We should get prepared, and then let it happen.
The present 'goal', it seems, is to prevent a revolution in Mexico by allowing a relatively open border. -- Yet no one here wants an open border, or so it is claimed.
I see the workers exodus [and their money sent home] as a safety valve, but essentially, we agree.
-- Mexico is ripe for revolution, and our government is playing games at our border in an attempt to delay the inevitable.

If Mexico ever has a revolution or a disaster like a major earthquake the illegal immigration we're experiencing now will be considered a trickle.
That's why it has to be made clear to them they're not the 51st state and they have to learn to solve their own problems like everyone else.

Exactly. That point is not being made 'clearly'.. It is not being made at all.
That may even be the ultimate goal, -- 'The United States of North America'.. Patterned after the EU, no doubt.

In my opinion, all illegals need to be deported. Then they can go through the process of entering this country legally.
I don't can't about the hardship on their relatives. If they had come here legally to begin with, there would be no hardship.

I just stumbled onto this thread, I've been away for awhile and I come back and it looks like a war is raging.
From what I've seen so far, it looks like the conservatives have choosed up sides on the illegal mex issue and are now going at it fiercely enough that people and threads are getting banned and erased from FR existence.
Is that about it?
And, It appears you are leading the charge against the anti-illegal crowd.
I'm curious, are you hispanic? and if so, how do you call yourself "dane"?
btw, I never knew buchanan was so very pro-catholic. That's very interesting. I wonder if you know this for a fact or if it is just your feeling.

RE: slave wages
Actually what I was talking about is an "undocumented immigrant" who has a good paying career job.
A small percentage (but a large number of employees, like nine million) of W-2 earnings data reported to the IRS / SSA each year contain SSNs - names that do not match the SSA's Master Earnings File.
Most W-2s are from employers in the agriculture, hotel and restaurant, and low-skill service industries.
I think that it's reasonable to believe that some of these bogus SSNs are being used by people holding well-paying, responsible jobs. Those are the ones I was asking about.
Both the SSA and the IRS send "no match" letters to employers that have ten or more bogus SSNs. In 2003 about 130,000 employers received the "no match" letters.
Apparently SSA has no authority but the IRS does. Nevertheless, the immigrant "rights" industry, et al. go ballistic and, I believe, very little is done about it.
BTW, the SSA does everything it can to make a match. These are definitely almost all bogus SSN - name combinations.
My point being, that it is quite possible that the "guest worker" plan is defective from the get-go and all the more reason not to have a shiny new law that will be ignored -- just like all the other immigration laws -- by business and government owing to their economic and politcal needs.

That may even be the ultimate goal, -- 'The United States of North America'.. Patterned after the EU, no doubt. Very well could be the goal although it would never work. All the movement of people would be northward while the wealth went south. And I think the supporters of such a scheme know it.

Oh, I know about MEChA--I go to a local community college (Santa Ana College), and I have to suffer through their rants every election cycle. It really bugs me that such a racist organization is allowed on campus, let alone funded by grants from my student fees. Gee, what would happen if I started a club on campus whose official motto is "For Whites Everything, For Nonwhites Nothing".
You're right, it's these people, the people that support them, and the people who are silent about it who are the real racists.

Problem is... Dane cited Louis Farrakhan. Calypso Louis is black, in case you haven't noticed. And he is as much a racist/race-baiter as David Duke, Jesse Jackson, Jared Taylor, Al Sharpton, or Sam Francis in my book.
Seems like you've been aiming your fire at the wrong target.
