The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the Presidents guest worker amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration. Free Republic is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from around the country.
The problem for the administration of the site is that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views of most conservatives. The managements answer to this conflict between the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.
Members and readers of Free Republic would be surprised to know that many members of their community have fallen silent on the discussions about illegal immigration lately because free speech is an illusion on FR.com. They are silent because they have been banned from the Web site without warning, cause, or explanation in most cases. For weeks the moderators have been suspending and banning new members that chimed in quickly on the immigration debates.
Now this trend has broadened as the first groups of long-term users were suspended or banned this past week. Although Robinson and his staff removed many members of the Free Republic community in the first few days of the purge, those that religiously support President Bushs immigration plan, open borders and approve of public benefits for illegal aliens remain on the forum. Those that were banned were the members that wanted more done to control illegal immigration and a strict observance to the Presidents Oath of Office.
lol.....not even close, obviously.
As I said in an earlier post, Martinez (thankfully) appears to be in the minority on this issue -- the minority who desires cultural assimilation.
Me, too. I am always meeting great new-to-me people on FR, and this time especially.
Thanks for the ping and that was a very nice post.
Is "cognitive illiteracy" an actual term? If not, it needs to be invented for you.
It's all Bush's fault! |
Whatever, I will wear my picture as the defintion of "cognitive illetracy" in the buchannan uber alles dictionary, as a badge of honor.
No problem.
True. A real temporary guest worker plan --- while we give the Mexican government a chance to shape up or ship out, that would allow seasonal workers to be flown or bussed in ---- round trip and expenses paid by the employer who claims to need them so much. Family and friends and the rest of the village remain home, the "guest stay" would be for no more than 3 or 4 months --- the harvest season for example and the guest would be returned home.
Yup, the "badge" you're wearing fits perfectly.
I thought we already had a guest worker program, for *legal* immigrants? Why can't we just stick to that, expand it if necessary?
LOL! You haven't been here too long have you. I was here when the pitchforkers who, IMO hate Jews and Hispanic Catholics(funny since buchannan himself almost proclaims himself as an American Pope, he likes all all Catholics, except those without white skin, IMO)), tried to take over this forum.
I fought them then, and I fight them(you) now.
I believe that the border issue will be the cornerstone of Senator Rodham-Clinton's thrust into pulling votes from the center-right in the 2008 race for the White House.
With the DNC's continuing move to the left, a "centrist" Hillary! will surface to splinter votes from both parties.
Hillary Clinton...the next Ross Perot.
What I actually think it could be --- from observing every time a corrupt Mexican official brings up the "guest worker amnesty" plan they not so subtly bring up "our national security" --- as if the two are tied somehow. We open the borders to all Mexicans and those borders become somehow more secure. It doesn't make sense except that they must be threatening that they can just as easily work a deal with Al Queda if we don't give them what they want. Extortion.
It's about hits and donations and/or advertising dollars. Strictly business.
Gee, if I was illiterate, how could you read and respond to the replies I write.
Whew you all are getting worse and worse and digging yourselves a deeper hole with your banal replies.
I saw that after I posted it, I meant to say far-right and center-left.
Toppling the corrupt government of Iraq also required a little violence---- but now look --- Bush worked his magic and Iraq is a free democrat country with no more problems. If a little bloodshed and violence is worth it on the other side of the world --- why do you fear Mexicans overthrowing their corrupt elite?
Plus you're only assuming these peaceful hard working illegals pouring over the borders are really just very violent thugs who couldn't work for peaceful reforms in their own country. They are Mexico's would be middle class --- all that really needs to happen is the corrupt elite allow for a middle class and all the important changes to allow for one.
Center left belonged to Bush these past elections.
Yep, and I noticed when I called her on it, she pretended I was never born:). They all do the same thing; ignore a reasoned argument, and when painted into a corner, spew insults, and resort to outrageous allegations, like "go back to DU, or "you love buchanan", or even funnier " you are a hillary supporter"
Pitiful.
