Dear Fellow Freepers,
First of all, I'd like to say thanks for the great job you guys do for us. I, for one, do appreciate your genuine concern for our Country. As a Republican, I have worked hard to help elect concerned, responsible, Republicans to office...and our industry needs your opinion and help. This issue is gathering steam from some very powerful forces and needs to be (IMO) stopped.
Being in the transportation industry and being that I am just a small carrier, I'd like to bring to your attention an issue that is or will be considered by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA). The issue is one of Transportation Broker Bonds. (for some background and an opposing opinion see: http://www.ooida.com/Documents/Press_Releases/012904_Broker_Bonds.htm )
The issue is that there are forces in this industry that would like to raise the surety bonds for brokers to, as much as, $300,000. This is absurd.
I disagree with increasing the bond so high. Here's why...
