It wouldn't surprise me. The KGB, or their predecessors, were not above committing murder on American soil in the pre-WWII period. We did basically nothing to counter it until after WWII.

Dude, I think it's like illegal, or something, to make such hanging type of posts.

This is common knowledge amongst intelligence agencies.Americans have been held captive in Gulags since 1918.
Many captured Americans in the Korean and Vietnam Wars were sent to Russia. Some estimates state that over 1,000 Americans that were of intelligence value were sent to Russia. Then killed after all information was extracted from them.

We were flying at night with a heavy cloud cover homed in on what we thought was our base beacon. The Russians had set up a beacon with our identifier which we had homed in on. They were trying to entice us into their airspace as you can guess. Luckily there was a break in the clouds and I could see we were off course and we corrected our mistake. After I was back in the states I heard that they had captured a pilot and crewman by this method and had them in prison.

True, as well as it has been written about in various books, etc. You and I know about it, but the problem is "John Q Public" doesn't. It's long overdue that:

1) Mother Russia provides a full accounting of it's sorted past

2) Any and all remains make it home with the honors due them

3) John Q Public begins to understand that at times, lives were lost during the "Cold" War.

In particular, it would be quite nice to see the Soviet System get grilled for Stalin's refusal to repatriate any Allied Servicemen after the end of WWII hostilities UNTIL all Soviets were returned. The Cossacks -- men, women and children -- paid a steep price. He was evil incarnate, and by even conservative standards, far worse than Hilter and his henchmen.

My great uncle was lost in Korea, and rumor has it he may have been taken to Russia. I wish this family mystery could be solved, so his kids can feel some peace and closure.
