I got an email from iliya, who seemed a little miffed at my post. I don't think he or she has noticed that they forgot to capitalize his or her first name when they signed up, which I found humorous, since he or she included the PHD on the end. Anyway, I kid around with people some, but I don't like to start flame wars, so I thought I'd leave him or her alone.

BTW, iliya, I pinged you because it's poor etiquette around here to mention someone without pinging them to the post. I won't bug you anymore. Course, I may not bug you any less, either.

Me too. He thinks we're all a bunch of "hypocritical communist wussies". His posts remind me of a bull in a china shop.

So, where did you get your doctorate and what was your dissertation. Even among newly minted PhD's it is considered bad form to display your credentials in such a gauche manner. The rule of thumb is not to mention it unless asked.

Churchill does not have a PhD. He only has a Masters, which begs the question of why he was chosen as department head with credentials that hardly qualify him to teach junioir college.

Seems that some people need either pontificating or a sense of direction. I keep pointing my finger to the right but no-one's watching so I got stuck with "pontificating", besides LACK OF CULTURE is a little painful to me, so I thought I'd share that with those who are not totally illiterate. Literacy does account for culture (in most countries).

I like that. Right after a big ol' run-on sentence.

You did that on purpose, right?

I am a better person for having been exposed to Dr. ILWLJOSH PSBHNGDSIJG's profound insight.

I'm an even better person for having read your profile.

I keep trying to edit this page and I routinely fail, so I chose to post only a few sentences. I will NOT reply to anyone who does not have a posted profile here, I shall consider them intruders (I got plenty of 3rd degree burns for not having my profile on day 1, 2, 3 and 4 - so I posted this. My most dominant ideas come from Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin, so I'll share a few that try to adhere to: Treason, trechery and lies are for the people who don't have brains enough to be honest. This above all, to thine own self be true. Experience keeps a dear school, but a fool will learn from no other. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting what to have for lunch; liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the issue.

Yep, this is turning into another one of the longest time delayed ZOT fuzes in FR's history or a good ol' fashioned running of the b*tch slap gauntlet (or maybe both). Fun reading, though.

Has anyone else received a freepmail from the poster. I saw who it was and deleted it before reading it. Didn't have the guts to reply on line.

Nothing here yet, but I did get a strange anonymous Freepmail request for contributing to the welfare of misunderstood and downtrodden PhDs with a propensity to commit intellectual Harikari on their FR profile page.

I tried to read the one he had before. It read like a stream of consciousness nervous breakdown. I think he wants us to think he is clever. LOL

I thought it stood for (Elmer) Phud.

People who get their doctorates are to be much respected, in my book. It shows a real dedication to academic excellence. There is no substitute for academic excellence.

In most universities in this country, however, the process of getting the doctorate is FRAUGHT with politics and turns off so many people. It seems that those who do the nitpicking are CONVINCED that their s^^t doesn't stink and they are better human beings than the rest of the planet. It DOES something to the doctoral candidate in that it either infuses him with a sense of self-worth FAR BEYOND his achievement OR it makes him realize how foolish and pompous the entire process is.

It doesn't diminish the work itself but it sure changes the "Doctors" of philosphy. Most take themselves so seriously that I can't but needle. Those who have a grip on reality are WONDERFUL, smart folks.

My 2 cents.

If it makes you happy - I'm back. Dropped my real name (which probably indicated that I was "hiding something" ->sarcasm, so why in the world would I send any anonymous mail if I can barely navigate the site?

Additionally to the 99% hypocrites here: I counted all those who threw stones at me for not having a profile and that was about the right outcome - 99% of things I was criticized for - applied to them, more so than me - remember I'm a "newbie" and it the prerogative to your "seniority" here to "haze me" or give the rights of passage. Trouble with me is that I won't stay silent, let alone cowardly like the BRAVE person who didn't even have the guts to read my email to him/her. That's real courage if I ever saw one. Let's now, invite all those who get orgasmic pleasure from splitting hairs between steak and stake, right and wright, knight and night. You'll learn (eventually) that it takes a lot more than a team of dim -witted girl scouts to knock me down.

You know, that was such an astute remark that it has me wondeing now: who is it really that's more cowardly?

a) the person who sends an email (or even posts his/her real name on a public site like this one;
or
b) the person who bravely deletes email without reading it?

Let me think. Let me think. C'mon give me some time to think, I'm a "newbie" here and that gives You (see? I even capitalized the letter Y, out of tremendous respect I have for you and people like you) the automatic right to haze me and fry all my views.

Guess what pal?

I took away that right from everybody the day when I was born. So, you got something to say - spit it out. Don't be so "brave" be more of a "coward" - like me.

In intentional violation of advice given - I refuse to indicate which is sarcasm which is not - you're bright enough (ahem, ahem) to figure it out on your own (ahem, ahem).

Wow? There is one person here that can read more than what's written. My hat off to you Sir (or Mam). That's exactly what it means. There are so many contradictions here (I get fried for not having a profile by others who are more senior to me - but equally without profile...) The few people that showed me a little bit of decency got the decency back 10fold. Those that decided to pick a fight and belittle me (possibly on account of some childish hazing ritual) got the trouble back equally 10fold, but none (or almost none) got to the point of understanding the mockeries I posted (you are a rare exception and another lady did it yesterday - I'm flattered to say that there are TWO (not a typo, indeed 2) clever people here, and they both seem to be female. Any wonder Bush tapped Condi?

Man, all I can say is that I hope you don't speak like you write. Otherwise it must be hell on you ordering at the drive thru. Probably works for PhD orals, I suspect.
