I'm with you on this one, but it could be that women just don't have as much experience at 'whipping it out' as men do. :o)
I think woman are more into savoring the experience of consuming. Whether it picking and paying for supermarket items or picking what dang soup they want at a salad bar. Getting the maximum mileage of what men view as something to take care of quickly and efficiently.
I hate shopping. I like to buy my stuff on the internet. The only time I walk around mindlessly is in Best Buy, Home Depot, and Border's.
A couple of my sisters are guilty of that behavior, but I take after my bros in the shopping department. Get what you need, pay for it and leave. But this could be a quote from my sisters: "Hmmm...I can't make up my mind whether or not I'm indecisive."
I don't think the issue is being a consumer, I think it is just bad manners and rude. Poor manners are not a male or female thing.
How about we compare the difference between men and women in hotel rooms. I remember reading an article about the difference housekeepers saw in male vs female guests. The housekeepers found women to be the slopiest. The reason given by the article was that wemen were taking advantage of having a made and were thus extra sloppy.
Its only anecdotal but I do notice a difference between the manners of younger women and older women. (though single lawyer women are rude across the age spectrum)
I don't think manners are being taught at all anywhere. The classic example of the woman who can't get her man to listen to her during a sporting event, only tells me she does not care about his interests. I am certain there are examples on the other side.
As for those who laugh about the shades of red, consider how men will know which muscle car is painted candy apple red, fire engine red with metal flake, relective red, sports red, ferrari red, racing red, mustang red, mg red, or any other nuance red. You know what you learn.
