That's a common myth, but the fact is, nobody would be able to function without both halves working together all the time. There is some interesting research done on people who have had the main connective bunch of nerves surgically severed or never formed from birth. They can only see half their face, half the road. They only dress half their body, etc.
Like the guy tring to do the puzzle with only one of his hands, and having the other hand keep creeping up onto the table because it knows how to do it.
