Either the Dem lies about SS have been effective or just another biased AP poll/story. You decide.

I decided.

AP took a poll and ignored the SS issue because W has the numbers there with every demographic except the scared senior Dems. Then they used words instead of numbers, didn't cite the questions, throw in a jab at immigration after all the stories they write making us out to be bigots and finish up w/some Donk operative's opinion.

All the seniors I know voted for W and support the reforms to SS.

They proved during the campaign that this number means absolutely nothing.

The number who think the country is headed down the wrong track increased from 51 percent to 58 percent in the past month.

You could be a Bush supporter and still think the country was headed down the wrong track, i.e. too liberal, too much government debt, etc.

"I'm unhappy with the whole package" of the Bush administration, said Janet Luzzi, a Democrat and a government finance director from Eureka, Calif. "The good news is that we have four more years and then we're done with him."

A bitter liberal California bureaucrat doesn't like Bush, now that's news to AP.

Yep. The Gallup/CNN/USAToday poll had his approval rating at 57%.

Fox reported a poll last week that had the presidents aproval at 57%.This was not a Fox poll,I missed who it was.BTW when will people realise that the vast majority of the polling is done by pollsters that hate president Bush.

You are exactly right, but facts won't get in the way of a nice opportunity to bash Bush. After all they've already paid for this lousy poll and darn it, we must find bad news for evil empire.

It's so much fun to play "spot the bias" in a AP story, but they make it way too easy.

I saw that same poll. I think this was one was all about a "Quick! We need a counterweight to President Bush's approval ratings are going up" poll.

58% of me thinks that Will Lester is not a real reporter, but a random gloom generator developed by a leftist programmer.

This sounds like a rerun of the polls we saw before the election. None of them matter now anyway; W is in for the next four years, and the AP can blast away with its bogus stories as much as it wants.

I am a old person, and for the life of me I cannot figure out why seniors are frightened. I am beginning to believe that these polls and statements are made up to really scare the old timers.

More pure BS from the AP. His favorability rating has rebounded to 57% as reported just days ago.

Funny.

I just saw a story yesterday that stated Bush's rating was at an all time high.

I am an old person, as well, and I totally agree.

A friend who is an expat in NZ wrote to me when this first broke wondering what it meant for us. I sent him several articles that explained it meant nothing for us. He is educated and intelligent, but except for the net, all he sees is anti-W/anti-USA propaganda.

Personally, my husband and I, who are self-employed, plan to work as long as possible, though we also plan to cut back on the hours we spend working after 70, which is the age we plan to *retire*. We have saved for retirement. We will sell our property at some point, which will be a large part of our nest egg. We spend a lot of time improving the buildings by ourselves, which we view as an investment. We have, of course, paid double taxes almost all our working lives because we are self-employed. We support the SS reform, as do all our friends, who are also self-employed. Our own SS will be small, but the kids will get a better break.

After this reform, the Donks will not be able to scare retirees about their retirement. Not once have I read an article that states that the private accounts are voluntary. I bet that after about 5 years, almost everyone eligible will opt for the investment accounts, as they see their friends doing well.

The left totally fears an independent electorate.
