I think Jim/John's best course of action is to quietly do whatever research/archiving necessary and wait for someone who was damaged by this entrapment to subpoena the records.

That would depend on who it is. There may be legal considerations also. If they are already a public figure, such as a reporter for the compost, They are fair game.
My guess is that it was a reporter. This operation was too cool and clean, (except the exit strategy). I think that NCPAC was targeted.

FR has had scammers before and when it all goes out like this, it usually means an increase in donations to keep FR up and stronger.
Old FRs went through "Deep in the..", Larry Whatislawyer, Pardek and a few other scammers that monopolized the interest for a while and came away stronger
