*Senate Bill 103: Local Enforcement of Federal Immigration Laws*
Senate Bill 103 passed on the NM Senate Floor yesterday. All 18 of our Republican Senators as well as 2 Democrats voted against the bill, which would prohibit state and local police from enforcing federal immigration laws.
Call your Senator today and thank them for their vote to protect New Mexico families. The Capitol number is 986-4300.
For more information about the bill, please visit the New Mexico Legislature website at http://legis.state.nm.us. Click on Bill Finder, and then go to "Find Legislation by Number." Then click the appropriate Chamber (Senate) and type in the bill number (103). You will then be able to read the text of the bill.
Hope all 18 of our Republican Senators as well as 2 Democrats take the case to the SCOTUS as illegal and not an authorized State's right under the US Constitution.
Damn, maybe I should rethink moving there later this year. What is that state thinking?
Geez, we just start to make progress here in Arizona (at least until some court throws out prop 200) and these bozos just to the east of us blow another hole wide open.
AZ_Cowboy just our liberal Democrats here in NM. Two years ago we authorized illegal the right to have NM State driver license.
Rogle, are you in New Mexico? My wife and I are going to be moving there later in the year. Of course, anywhere away from the Boston area has to be better.
The weather here is great, however, our state is controled by very liberal Democrats.
I did notice that they give property tax breaks to vets. Or is that going to be taken away?
Any chance of Republicans taking the state back? I know the vote during the election was tight to swing to Bush.
I never meant all of you. I meant the legislators who gave it the nod. I've spent lots of time in NM, and it is a beautiful state. Some of the politics is a bit bafling to me, though. I mean, you've got George W. Bush's Texas to your east and Barry Goldwater's Arizona to your West. What happened?
I should've clarified. Sorry. NM did go for Bush.
Good job NM! Now the local police have authority to enforce the laws against the illegals.
So much for taking an oath of office to uphold the laws of the state and the Constitution.
You better re-read the article: The bill PASSED, despite the Pubbies & 2 somewhat sane Dems voting against it.
It PROHIBITS enforcement.
oooppps! You're right I did misread it.
Wishful thinking I guess.
I think I'll get with my county commissioners tomorrow and have them bring up statutes to forbid enforcement of EPA regulations.
This could take off.....
They need to get rid of Horatio Sanz as the Governor.
