Did Young go out a different door and not see it was just someone leaving cookies? And if she was so frightened someone was outside, why did she leave the house to go to her sister's? Why didn't she stay inside the house and call the police?

I wondered the same thing.

She has an anxiety attack about someone that is outside - so what does she do? She goes outside! (to go to her sister's house). And where was Herb??

Husband out of town, went to sister's on advice of sheriff's deputies. Makes sense to me.
