It's not just recent years that the msm has not told the whole truth. Anyone who has ever been near a "news event" from the 60's on can tell you it was not quite like the tv news reported it to be - full of half-truths and exaggerations. Some of it to sell news but also to slant the news for political/government policy. Makes my eyes boil to think of all the years we have been lied to but thank God, Jim Robinsion, all of you and the Internet - we can search out the truth now.

Is dc925er (at the Baltimore Sun forum) MD4Bush? (Or perhaps are they husband and wife?). Note the familiarity with that Atlantic Monthly article:

This is absolutely stomach turning. I can't imagine the bile in the throats of everyone in O'Malley's and Curran's families.
Maybe Ehrlich's administration has been learning from Karl Rove? http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200411/green
The worst thing is the guy only owned up when a reporter came to his house with print outs of the e-mails. Sorry, my ass. He's sorry he got caught. I can just see him as a little kid, his mother dragging him by the scruff of his neck to the neighbor's house.
"Tell Mrs. Smith you're sorry."
"Sorry, Mrs. Smith," he'd say, with his fingers crossed behind his back.
This guy deserves to be unemployed for the rest of his life. Total scum.
And SWK, it doesn't matter if he started it or propogated it. That's really small of you. And it's small of everyone who has gossiped about it over the last year, too.

I sent this post to you, did you get it? We need this kinda stuff in MD.
"There was a great article in the atlantic (lib mag my wife reads) about Rove. The writer whines all about Rove?s tricks, but they work and he is a genius. He got a rumor started about this dem judge who gave a lot of money to a charity for kids, so they took those pictures of the judge with the kids and said he was a gay pedophile. It worked.

The fact is, as Hugh Hewitt writes in BLOG, that the MSM is getting beaten in coverage of real facts, interpretations instantly. The Jordan story, the blue dress, military death totals,Rathergate-memogate, has brought the news instantly to the NET bloggers and then on out to other news organizations. The MSM hates this since they can no longer spin every story without bloggers picking up on facts, tactics, lobbying groups, varied govt. inputs, and instantily relaying those facts to the reader. Drudge, Hewitt, Powerline, FR, all have contributed to this revolution on news reporting. The Pub Party is going to revise its blog-power for the next election and the Dems will not be far behind. More and more conservative bloggers are appearing on MSM outlets now such as Hewitt, Malkin, Northern Alliance, Powerline, and varied God-blogs. The MSM would be smart to add bloggers to their stringers for quicker reporting. Honest bloggers will not tie themselves to these outlets because of the spinners on the Left.
Agree with your points. However, I don't see the MSM availing themselves of the resources that go into say a FR. When the whole point of their "reporting" is to advance an agenda, facts become a problem. The research done on most stories in the MSM is appalling. FreeRepublic has been around since before I joined in 1998. I remember when we were all called fanatics because we questioned the tactic, facts and spin of the MSM. FR was the pioneer (Jim Robinson), and it really bothers me that he doesn't get the well deserved credit.
Its a full-on attack on the credibility of those who don't use fake documents for news.
Too bad John Mitchell isn't alive anymore, (nor that old bag Katherine Graham....)
"You guys think you're cute, don't you? Just wait and see, we're going to do a story all over you people at the "Washington Post". You go tell Katie Graham to watch out before she gets her t#t caught in a big fat wringer."
Gotta love that.
Heheheheheee...
I haven't read the entire thread, so sorry if someone's already said this, but it's total nonsense when internet postings are blamed for inaccurate information that gets out into the newspapers. The newspapers don't write themselves. If a newspaper reporter prints some crazy rumor that some anonymous poster posted online, then it's entirely the reporter's fault. It's no different than if he was sitting in a cafe and overheard two people discussing some rumor and decided to print it.
thanks
Thanks for looking- I've been a Silent Key since yesterday when phone and DSL service died, so I am just catching back up.
