I'm trying to figure that out as well, they admit he used his legal name to get clearance from Secret Service, so that's a red herring.

So he used a pen name. And this is a problem...how? Because he's a conservative.

So he used a pen name. And this is a problem...how? He was ashamed of his real name, since it was associated with gay porn websites.
At the risk of being the skunk here, if "Gannon" had written for Salon, FR would be raising holy hell.
Jeffie made a fool out of everybody who believed him.

Exactly. I've been acquainted with a few "journalists", or rather "tv news readers" in my day. And more than a few of them don't use their real names.
This is not a news story.

So he used a pen name. And this is a problem...how? Didn't Teddy Kennedy and Joe Biden use pen names?
No wait, that was plagiarism...

I seem to recall reading a rather lengthy bit a while back about how Shakespeare wasn't written by Shakespeare, rather it was written by some other guy, who went by the name Shakespeare.
Like this story I'm still trying to figure out what the point was......... ;-)

It is a potentially dangerous compromise of the press corps' generally balanced and efficient questioning of the president and his press secretary to have the administration plant a ringer among the real journalists. The role of the press corps is to challenge, critique, and cut through the political advocacy of the administration. It is totally inappropriate to have a fake journalist tossing softball questions at what is asserted to be a legitimate, honest Q and A session of our most important elected public official. It surely must be a Karl Rove innovation.
