According to Snopes.com, Geraldo Rivera was born Gerald Riviera, not Jerry Rivers.

Interesting.... You learn something everyday. I've heard the Jerry Rivers thing for years and it's all over the net but I've never heard or read the discredit by Snopes... They do a good job of documenting the truth about these urban legends that make the rounds....

I've called him Jerry Rivers ever since he was a local reporter on the NYC ABC affiliate (now flagship station) back in the 70s!!!! Long before internet urban legends.
