All Things Considered, February 9, 2005 · A reporter for the conservative news site TalonNews.com resigns. The reporter, who went by the pseudonym Jeff Gannon, drew critical attention at President Bush's Jan. 26 press conference when he referred in question to Democrats "who seem to have divorced themselves from reality" on the issue of retooling Social Security.
Liberal bloggers have disclosed that Gannon, who has little previous journalism experience, was easily granted a coveted White House press pass -- even though he did not work for a traditional or established news organization. He also routinely asked "softball" questions at press conferences. There are also allegations that Gannon is linked to Web sites with homoerotic themes.
Gannon spoke with NPR's David Folkenflik the day before he resigned. He says he is open about his conservative point of view, but that he is just as valid a journalist as other reporters in the White House press corps.
If only the White House WOULD ban ALL biased reporters from the press pool...
Oh, wait, there wouldn't be a press pool.
I don't know. I won't listen to the BS spewed from NPR. It's bad enough that my tax dollars are funding these soulless, conscienceless miserable excuses for human beings.
The DC Chapters Freep of the annual White House Correspondents Association Dinner this year will be very colorful, I'm sure.
The crime? Asking questions from a conservative perspective.
Bummers. We enjoyed having you there for us. Why don't you get a job with Fox or Laura Ingraham radio? I loved ya! Even better, ask the White House to join W's personal communications staff.
WAH! WAH! WAAAaaaaHAAAAA!!!
NPR should never have been allowed to exist. I would like every CongressThief to tell us where in US Constitution does it allow spending on these anti-Freedom parasites; Certainly, not the 10th. I have ZERO faith that ANY program will be eliminated. The Reps in Congress are spineless, weak men. They have no idea what the Founders intended when they created this grand experiment. The NPR is full of liberal parasites who use our hard earn tax dollars to attack the very thing that allows them to spout they sissy garbage -- Capitalism. It is astounding to anyone with a minimal understanding of the way the Founders wanted this Republic to operate, to believe that the likes of the NPR,PBS, etc. wouldn't be defunded and the pensions of the parasites revoked. p.s. even if NPR and PBS were right wing, they still should be defunded and all employees fired. Can someone please tell me when the last time large numbers of government parasites lost their jobs? (beside the ATC in 81)
Unfortunately it seems there is a faction of FReeperdom that does think it is OK.
Their are no websites.
Welcome to the new world order of leftwing fascism.
I agree. Or to petition them to fund one of OUR radio stations. Fair is fair.
Many reporters use a name different from their "legal" name......I know I did when I was a reporter. As long as it is disclosed during the vetting process, there is no problem.
So many lefty WH press corps members, so little time...
They will be available for public mocking and ridicule in April, when they dress up in black tie and evening gowns, for their annual dinner in DC. Keep an eye peeled for the DC Chapter Freep announcement... it's always a lot of fun. For us.
I didn't know that... Thanks!
OK, I was going on him being called by name and his name credited to his articles. I stand corrected.... Thanks!
Well it's been asserted that Gannon isn't his real name. I don't know as I've not followed this closely.... But others use assumed names....
Jerry Rivers aka Geraldo Rivera
This is an excellent post and you make excellent points.
Freepers need to realize if they get too high a profile, if they point out a logical conclusion that the MSM has overlooked, failed to research or doesn't fit the MSM agenda that Freeper is going to be attacked. They are going to be outed if their gay, destroyed if they are behind on their child support payments, villified if they ever had an extramarital affair and branded as a hypocrite if they failed to tithe to the church last month.
This is the tip of the iceberg folks. Stand by for heavy weather.
Regards,
TS
