I think it's a national characteristic of ours to get snooty! Our bad, as you chaps might put it.
What you have to remember is that we wouldn't sit here and chat away with Americans if we didn't actually like them. We just don't like having our country rubbed in the dirt by a few ill-informed posters.
Very understandable. It seems to happen on every thread regardless of topic. There are always a few of the same faces who pop up again and again who spew the same bile over and over. Isn't there an old saying about people talking alot while saying nothing?
At any rate, I love our international FReepers. I really, really hope to visit London some day. It's not exactly my husbands dream vacation, but I just remind him that the beer is stronger and there are pubs everywhere and that pacifies him. :-)

I know from experience that any American participating on any British forum — liveral or conservative — sooner or later gets a liberal ration of trash talk about our president, our country, our culture and pretrtyt much all things American in general.
I for one am tired of it and I's going to start shoveling one of the bullshit I've taken from n Brits back in your direction.
So my advice to you is quit your whinging and get used to it.
