Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice yesterday challenged France to let bygones be bygones and launch "a new chapter" as she took her whirlwind charm-offensive tour to Paris, a hotbed of opposition to the U.S.-led Iraq war.
"It is time to turn away from the disagreements of the past. It is time to open a new chapter in our relationship, and a new chapter in our alliance," she urged in Paris in the biggest speech of her weeklong trip.
....
She stressed Bush's policy of seeking to spread freedom throughout the world and discreetly skipped over disagreements about Iraq to stress the success of Iraq's elections, which even Chirac has praised.

"If Condi Rice is the nominee in 08, and says she is Pro-Choice, she will win big."
She will win "bigger" if she announces that she is
"pro-life". You are naive if you think abortion is not a huge issue with Americans. Every poll now shows that 70%+ now believe there need to be restrictions on abortion. As people get educated on the subject, they are turning more and more
pro-life.
I hope you are right about "syphoning off" the black and women's vote. However, past political races seem to indicate that is not as easy to accomplish as one would think. Progress is being made, but the blacks are still 90 per cent "enslaved" to the Democrat party. Hillary stil polls big time with women. (Thank God for the Electoral College!) It is dangerous to assume that we would have a "sure thing" with Condi.....but I do think she
would be our best candidate.
Mark my words one day someone is going to right a book claiming it was Rice's opinion that Bush leaned upon and not the gravitas of Cheney.
They're making her a rockstar. The country is leaning right. We're kicking terrorist ass.
The stage is set for her to truly become the 1st female President of the United States.
The most powerful person in the world. A woman.
A woman of color.
And a Republican!
Rudolph Gulliano for star status.
The VP candidate probably hasn't stepped forward yet.
9/11 changed this country forever.
President Bush means what he says. That means a lot of stuff is going to get blown up.
That's why Condi Rice will become President.
She is personally meeting one on one every major leader... impressing the most ardent critics and becoming the voice of President Bush.
I'm excited as hell. Hillary Clinton can't beat Condi Rice. No way.
Now I can say, "Amen!" to everything you said. Shall we
start a "Mutual Condi-admiration Society"?
If anyone knows where we can get "Condi in 2008" bumper stickers....please let me know. I would like to have one....NOW!
"I'm interested in knowing who you think would be good as Condi's veep...?"
I would keep my eye on Coleman from Minnesota. A convert from pro-choice, liberalism...raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. Up and coming. Very attractive candidate. Comes across so sincere.
Frist is good, but just has not learned how to "fight" yet.
Santorum? Forget it! (I live in Pennsylvania). The man is tough one day.....willy nilly the next. Not "leadership" material.
Hello! Ahem, who started this thread? Be sure you include all of us.... Heh, heh. I'm wagering those bumper stickers exist, just don't know where.
Watch the Demos start a "seek and destroy" campaign against Condi (Actually, they started it with the comfirmation hearings). They are progressively as terrified of her popularity as they were of "Governor" Bush. They know Condi is our most effective "anti-Hillary".
Now, who are the Republicans going to put up to replace
Jeb Bush as governor of Florida? Will Jeb go for the Senator
office?
Yes, KiloLima, there is something very special about Condi!
Very classy, yet tough as steel. She may very well be a "Proverbs 31" girl.. Go Condi!
Huuah
Pro choice = political suicide.
Even if that wasn't the case, we need to take a stand for the unborn and protect innocent life (even if the country was 100% pro-murder).
"Even if that wasn't the case, we need to take a stand for the unborn"
I agree. My response was in answer to the assertion that we need Giuliani or other "pro-choicer" on the ticket in order to win. I was pointing out that those days are over (If they ever were).
Being pro-life is now "politically correct" in the eyes of a majority of Americans.......finally!
I like it!!! Where do we get them?
"The most powerful person in the world. A woman.
A woman of color.
And a Republican!"
AND...........single!
Click on them.
