I've heard conservative defenders of the Electoral College make a similar observation to reach a different conclusion - Schieffer's wasn't discussing the context of the Electoral College

He was giving his personal opinion to a question asked by ChrissyAnd I'm saying others have made a similar observation in the context, including those on the right. Many states didn't get a visit from either candidate after the conventions.
