I don't think there is any evidence that Schieffer has an axe to grind, and while he works for Rather's network I don't think you should tar everyone with the same brush.. I guess you missed Schieffer's comment on hardball about not having a national election ... that a few states decided who would be President and the rest are stuck with their decision

without having read the full comments.. one take on that statement is that since only a handle full of states are competitive only a few states see active campaigning and commercials and in that sense it may not be "national"....what's so kookie about that.

I guess you missed Schieffer's comment on hardball about not having a national election ... that a few states decided who would be President and the rest are stuck with their decisionI've heard conservative defenders of the Electoral College make a similar observation to reach a different conclusion - that having a few states as battleground states focuses the election into a few topics, instead of having the candidates pander to everybody.
