Ash Wednesday is my favorite holy day, because we all come out of the woodwork. The chapel at the Institute was always the most packed for this day.
I've passed by St. Patrick's Cathedral in the past, and caught glimpses of the many devout Catholics that live in this city.
There's also an astounding amount of nondenominational, pentecostal Christian churches sprouting up in places like Bushwick and East New York, among many other formerly economically depressed and crime-ridden neighborhoods.
You would be amazed at how successful the social and economic policies of the Giuliani administration have been in transforming the most blighted areas of NYC into thriving, exuberant neighborhoods.
