Actually the guy who I pissed off was in a position to do me financial harm [military pension]. He knew some background information from some of my previous posts and all he needed was the specific town where I lived [overseas] and that would have been enough for him to I.D. me.

He started sending me freepmail asking were I lived. I put two and two together and resigned from Free Republic and signed up again under this screen name. If he was able to narrow it down to the town were I lived it would have been pretty simple for him to get my name because of his having friends in the military.

As far as I know I'm the only retired military type from my branch of service with the same rank living here. It's a small town.

Anyway if he'd remained hot under the collar he could have made it, my military pension disappear at least temporarily in a heartbeat.

You may be saying to yourself that I'm being paranoid.

Well better to be paranoid then in the poorhouse stuck overseas in a foreign country without a paddle....... [grin]....

I'm not saying that being prudent isn't a good idea.

Most of the people that I could piss off are in the administration, (regardless of the party in power) but I send them the same thing directly with my name, full address, and phone number. They don't have to track me thru my ISP.

I'm sure that I'm on enough lists that if 'they' want me, they can and a screen name won't help me.

I also have a massive email list that goes out with my name and phone number. If some jackass wants to try something, let 'em try. In five years, I've had no problems.

You did well to avoid detection. It's a concern I have, and it's not so paranoid. I've walked in on conversations that are quite against my creed...co-workers want to literally neuter me (they believe in the overpopulation hype). But I'm so out in the open that I can't hide who I am.

The medical staff I work with has agreed that it's too easy for someone to spike the food with drugs. If someone were going to target their enemy in my industry, it would be through character assassination and and required urinalysis. I already know the letters on my personal file. I've asked for them before. I've never used drugs, and I don't even know what pot smells like, but try telling that to the judge.

Therefore, I can only rely on God's protection and forgiveness. Prayer is my weapon for now. Considering God's Divine Justice, I know I have the upper hand.
