The case offers a bizarre and tangled tale of how Mr. Paul, a smooth operator with myriad connections and a troubled past, got so close to America's first couple in a political culture dominated by money. Has it occurred to the NY Slimes that the Klintoons are "for sale" (however the buyer will get, at best, a subpeona to appear before the grand jury), and that the Klintoons are the epitome of "myriad connections and a troubled past"?

Probably has, but they're hoping we're too naive to pick up on the obvious... when your campaign, your party, and indeed your very political existence are all testaments to the power of bribery, it's a bit disingenuous to claim innocence every time you get caught.
